    Replaced My Fuel Filter Today

Cake Walk thanks to great write ups on here and to 'Old Guy' for his advice.

It took all of 20 minutes. One thing to mention that I didn't read in the DIY's:
Prime the pump after the install by turning the key in the ignition to just before it cranks and then back to 'off'. Do this 5-10 times and the fuel pump should have fuel running through it again. Then start the car.

    Thanks again

Re: Replaced My Fuel Filter Today

I am the second owner of my 2003 1.8tq tip, and I don't have any maintenance records that I can find.

I read that the fuel filters should be replaced every 40,000 to 60,000 miles and so it was just a precautionary replacement for my own maintenance schedule. I didn't have any symptoms...yet, but others have had issues with fuel pumps possibly aggravated by clogged fuel filters.

The gasoline that I poured out of the old filter looked clean (no sediment), but I think it was worth changing out for my peace of mind.
