Lower grille LED mod like the A3, thoughts?

But on the Pre-facelift B5's lower grilles. And using these 9.5" white LED strips at half the price and alot less wiring. Between these LEDs and the 6k HID kit I think it would look real good.

I think they'll look great, if anything like the white A3.

I'm considering having them in my OEM RS4 xenon units, but will get a used set as testbeds.
Not keen on cracking my units open, in case it all goes horribly wrong.

You could always get ambitious and just take out the bulbs. Put it together "ship in a bottle" style

ive actually been planning on doing this for a while. Oznium was out of the white leds for a long long time. i just ordered mine.

Got it, Thats sick.. now how do i turn off the turnsignals so they only come on when i put the blinker on...

you can just pull out the 3157 bulb (dual filament) that is in the corner and put in a 3156 (single filament) you have to trim the plastic part of the bulb a lil bit to get it to slide in though cause they are a little bit fatter to prevent people from accidentally putting the wrong bulb in

has anyone done the headlight mod that the other guy did on a B5 I was just looking at my lights and there isnt like a fat lip at the bottom of the light to put the led's in like with the new a4's

I'd say go for it. It's definately unique. You'd stand out. Also a new s5 was following me the other day with those fogs and I was in shock. They looked so good.

and as far as being street legal, who cares? technically just putting a little louder muffler on isnt legal. cant look any brighter than those effin' yukons with HIDs level with your rearveiw

I know its dumb as hell. I tried the same arguement when a cop gave me a ticket for not having doors on the highway. He told me that unless the Jeep came from the factory with no doors I couldnt drive it with no doors. To which I replied that up until 1986 Jeep offered the OPTION of doors on the CJ series. Which is true.

To which he responded with a $180 ticket lol.

Ya cuz a thin soft top door on a Jeep is really gonna protect you if you roll it... That cop is a dumbass I hope you contested the ticket in court because there is no way he should get away with that. Even the TJ's have doors that come off in seconds so the point is your SUPPOSED to be able to drive w/o doors.

i am gonna give this a shot, i am gonna start with the fog's then if i am feeling adventurous i might even do my OEM headlights too since i have been wanting to get rid of my black housing Ebay projector lights.....i will be sure to take a lot of pics and post um up

i looked at mine and we both have the facelift year, mine are solid so we should be set to go....I'm just deciding how I wanna wire mine up, i was going to wire them to come up as the running lights but I dunno if I want them to be on all the time, so I am thinking about running a separate switch

i'm actually not gonna use the strip LED's cause the guy said they failed after a fairly short time, so i am actually gonna use the 4 cell superflux LED's

You guys are actually puttin em where the foggs are. I was thinkin the grille over, One side is solid and the other is open to allow air for the IC.

i completely forgot the one side is open for the IC.......not that big of a deal or anything but it is going to make this project not be as absolutely as simple as it was going to be

Seeing as I have a 2.8 and both grilles are solid I just ordered up the 9.5" strips. I called and they told me I have 365 days to return them should they fail no questions asked.

$25 shipped to my door. We'll see.
