i think a low boost centrifugal supercharger will work in this car. the engine def. can hold up to the extra power if it holds up to 8250RPMS. The rods and pistons must be forged.

I can't imagine the price being to much different than the AWE or ASP setup. Unless of course, they work the internals, which is when the price really gets pricey.

just because it can rev up...doesn't mean it has forged anything. what we do know is that it has high compression and that is not a friend of boost. s4 is a 11:1...thats high. rs4 is 12.5:1....so either a thinner head gasket to lower compression or something must be done. and even if the pistons are forged...the compression is still high.

Centrifugal = yawn

The RS4 needs a serious injection of low and midrange torque, which it won't get with a centrifugal.

in 2004 the 1.8T had a compression ratio of 9.3.1 with the addition of FSI the compression ratio whent to 10.5.1 before thought unheard of. Even the RS6 V10 has the 10.5.1...

So what dose all this mean for the RS4. The RS4 dose have forged rods and crank to handle the extra RPM. As for the 12.5.1 compression....LOL I don't know that is high as hell for a blown car.... But with the FSI you might be able to use the blower more then you would with a non FSI car with the same ratio

Very good point, the FSI does allow for plenty of boost for higher compression motors. But 10.5 is hardly high compression these days.

RSX type S owners have been running turbos for quite some time on their 11:1 K20A2’s but as you can imagine their fuel maps are rich, timing maps conservatives, and therefore minimal gains, they are lucky to see 35% increase in power on pump gas. Same story with Corvette C6 Z06 and Honda S2000.

And then there is the Lexus IS350 with direct injection and 11.8:1 compression. There is one Japanese company that makes a supercharger for it…TOMS…and guess what? 50hp gain for $12,000 (on a 3.5L V6) they don’t even advertize the psi the kit is making because it’s probably like 4.

So this brings us to our beloved RS4 with its 12:5:1 compression. What I see is 3psi of boost and 10:1 fuel ratio, I will be extremely supersized If they squeeze 50hp on stock motor and pump gas.

On that note, if they use a permanent water injection with a 10 gallon tank in the trunk, maybe then we can see some real gains.
