My Cooling Mist WI controller took a shit. I bought it thru a company called Engine Runup and they're now out of business. So I contacted Cooling Mist for a replacement controller, as their kits have lifetime warranty. I was told that the owner of Engine Runup bought the kits from them for a very low price but he was responsible for all warranty. So now I'm screwed out of $240 .

Way to go Cooling Mist for standing behind your product... Will they at least give you some type of discount on either the repair of or a new controller?

    Re: Some bullshit

I trying to get some contact info for the owner of the company to see if he'll help. I would think he'd still have some laying around. They're telling me there is nothing they can do.

    Re: Some bullshit

What, how can a company move warranty responsibility of their product to a seller? Sounds like some bullshit, I don't care if the seller pays 2 pennies for their product, they are still responsible for the warranty. That's like Apple giving me shit because Staples sold me an Ipod and went out of business. It might not be worth it to go after these guys ,but if they don't take care of it, then, on the shit list they go.

    Re: Some bullshit

It is BS, but the product itself is great. I'll keep you guys posted. If they don't help me I'll just buy a Devils Own cont., it's $100 cheaper.

    Re: Some bullshit

That is total BS they are giving you, no matter what the retailer buys the product for they are not the ones responsible for warranty if the "product". That falls on the company that produces the part. That is just bad customer service.

    Re: Some bullshit

    My best advice, contact tripleB.
    BBB.org
They will do wonders on your behalf if you have a valid claim, and you do.
Warranty is upheld by manufacturer unless stated otherwise.
Exceptions are so called OEM products, where reseller buys it cheap and provides warranty. Examples are system builders, where they buy windows from microsoft for silly prices but are obligated to provide support for end-users. If you buy OE hardware or software you may end up without any warranty.

That is because they know the shop went out of business so they are using it to get out of having to cover "their" product. A real company would step up and take care of the customer since the shop did go out of business and because the product has their name on it not the shops.
