think i need to do turbos, mabey not

well, i tested my car for boost leaks today, and turns out i have none, but now my car is smoking.

it was really bad at first, and i figured pressurizing the intake forced oil into the exhaust or something and it would burn off (it certainly smokes less now), but after driving about 60 miles, its still smoking. I don't really see how a checking for boost leaks will cause this, and i figured the oil would be burnt off by now.

    so my question is:

is it possible i damaged the seals in the turbos?

no dentist drill noise, not making a ton of smoke like failed turbos do, just a little bit at idle. I'm going to look into the crankcase ventilation system tomorrow, but i'm hoping someone has had a similar issue and can chime in and help.

so it wasnt doing this at all before the pressure test? I was going to say maybe headgasket, easy way to check for that would be look at your coolant see if its mixed with any oil or look at your dipstick if it looks like chocolate milk thats a good sign of blown headgasket :(...

Did you remove your oil cap when pressure testing? If not you probably forced oil through there. It'll smoke for a while then taper off; same thing happened to me when my breather froze over this past winter. Is is becoming less and less? What is the oil level like?

My car did the same thing for a little while about 4 months ago. I've since put about 2k miles on it and the engine is still fine.

no i didn't, its smoking less and less, but i figured it would have stopped by now. I guess i'm being impatient.

I'm going to replace this puge valve as i suspect its somewhat plugged and aparently can cause a power loss, put the car back together and take it on a nice long run.

definitely check your jet suction pump.

It looks like this, and is underneath the intake "Y" and kinda behind the intake manifold.
Common issue for oil consumption or smoking issues.

Is the suction pump only on tips? I don't have one. In any case, be sure to also check/top off your oil before you head out.

Re: think i need to do turbos, mabey not

ok, i've replaced the suction jet pump, i did top off the oil (it was about a liter low)

took it for a nice hard drive to get out all the oil, seemed to stop its nonsense, but soon returned to its oil burning ways.

funny thing is, when i unplug the breather tube into the Y-pipe, there is vacuum on the breather now; when i first got the car there was pressure. If i put my finger over the breather, it creates a vacuum in the crankcase.

going out tonight, hopefully it clearn up, ortherwise i might just buy another breather assembly from ECS tuning:

Re: think i need to do turbos, mabey not

    it stopped, woohoo!

i opened up my old purge valve and it was OK, but at least i have the new updated part (the old one had a "B" at the end of the part number, the new one has a "D")

all it really does is allow vacuum for the brake booster to come from the Y-pipe and/or the intake manifold, if it became plugged, it certainly could cause poor brake performance (actually my brakes do feel slightly better) or oil consumption/leaking.
