    Grinding front Calipers for clearance

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I just bought a set of B7S4 18" (S-line) wheels, now the front caliper is tuching the spokes.

The wheels have offset 35, I want to minimize the use of spacers.

    So the question is:
Would shaving of a few mm off the calipers be a good idea or a really bad one??

I took off about 2mm on my A6 to clear my front wheels (+35mm offset), but I don't have HP2 calipers.

I have those same wheels and they are actually ET43. I put on 8mm spacers upfront as opposed to grinding my caliper. I also recall having to use a spacer in the back (I'm pretty dumped, though) to clear the bar, 20mm spacer back there.

Re: Grinding front Calipers for clearance

    I just finished the install.

Grinded 3-4mm and still had to use 5mm spacers (and new bolts). My brakepads are new so that might have contributed to an even tighter fit. In the rear I did not need spacers but I used same 5mm there also just for consistency.

First I tried stacking 2x5mm (10mm) in the front, this cleared the brakes but stack out to much. I am pretty sure my wheels are ET35.
