    rear tire problem

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I am having problems with both of my rear tires waring out on the inside edges. I have had my car aligned twice by two different tire shops. I can start to see noticeable ware after about 1,500 miles on the inside edge. I have not gone to the dealer yet because there are 2 in my state and don't care for either one. Any body have any suggestions on what I might be able to tell the person who does my next alignment. If it helps I am running stock tire sizes, and no suspension upgrades. I briefly checked past post and did not find answer to problem. Please help save a tires life.

Could also be corner weight? That's just a guess. Happen to have a print out of your alignment?

    Re: rear tire problem

I do, I will have to see if I cant find it. It does not mean much to me because I dont understand it, but they said every thing was within spec, what specs I am not sure.

    Re: rear tire problem

Take it back and tell them that you don't want it within spec, you want it dialed in exactly.

    Just discovered the same thing.

Replaced the driver's rear tire last week, caused by a puncture from a roofing nail. The mechanic showed me how both rears had worn unevenly on the inner edge. He said that the rear tires often wear this way on BMWs and Audis. I suppose rotating the fronts to the rear tires might help. I replaced both rear tires 14 months ago and have driven less than 10k. Can anyone else confirm that this is typical of the B6?

    Re: rear tire problem

When I got new wheels a few months ago the same thing happened to me, I just got 4 new tires. Must be a problem with these cars.

It is good to see that I am not the only one with this problem. Does anyone know if aftermarket suspension will help the problem?

    Re: rear tire problem

Disclaimer**I am not, nor claim to be a alignment/camber specialist** On my old car, S40 T5, we enthusiast would often replace the rear control arms to one's that were adjustable. This helped dramatically reduce uneven rear tire wear. Not sure if anyone makes them for an S4.

For reference, this is what i put on my volvo:

    Hope this helps.
