After talking with a few people with similar setups (ride height and wheel dimensions), and after talking with my friend Luke @ TireRack, I decided to go with a set of 245-35-19 Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric tires. Why? I wanted to go with a 245-width tire, but didn't want to deal with constant rubbing. Luke did some research, and these Goodyears are not only very highly rated, but they also are the "narrowest" of the 245s that I was looking at - if that makes any sense.

OH OH..... i hope that's right for the 245

when my friends GTO got F1’s in 275 he had massive rub, so he have to get drag bags and shave the fenders while others who were running 275 nittos only had to roll the fenders.

I was gonna ask the same thing. FI makes a very high quality product, but I much prefer the sound of Milltek. The Milltek sounds strong but with a refined edge. The FI sounds strong, with an unrefined edge (too much rasping and popping for me), but of course, to each his own.

PS. I've heard all combinations of CB, DP's, res and non-res, X and H-pipe(Milltek/FI), as well as AEW, and APR and a mixing of a few of them. In the end, you have to hear multiple setups "in person" with your "own personal ears" to make any kind of informed decision. Just about any aftermarket setup will sound better than stock, but there's a definite range of sound difference between individual manufacturers.

milltek and AWE are two of the best sounding exhausts out there. FI although a beautiful system, is not to my liking on the sound.

It's a front engine mount and it's suppose to eliminate or at least lessen transmission shock during shifting giving you smoother shifts. I don't have one so I can't say how well it works.
I think FI (Sebring) has a good sound but it's WAY to quiet.

Heh, probably won't have pictures up until tomorrow. One of my new wheels showed up damaged - huge thanks to Luke @ TireRack who is shipping out a replacement today direct to the shop so we can finish up tomorrow. I've also added swapping out the fuel filter, adjustments to my JHM short shifter, and making some VAG changes to the todo list.

be careful around potholes! the '04 vw r32 came with F1s from the factory, and they are notorious for sidewall bubbles. hopefully goodyear has changed the sidewall since then, but i don't know.

I actually find Fuffler's posts to be quite funny. You really can't take him too seriously. His sarcasm is too "over the top" to be offensive.

As for the car, it looks superb. Nice job, Jeff. I am all 99% certain on doing CHs next spring. Maybe RGRs if the funds are available. Either way, BBS for sure.
