so i just checked with my local dealer about the 35k service... i was told the factory warranty is over and it is not covered under the certified warranty... i was then told it would cost $1,134. does this sound extremely high to anyone else??

This is too general. You have a 2004 so probably your warranty is over, but whats the $1100 for? Ask if you can buy extended warranty. And ask what are those $110 exactly for. 90% of the time dealers will charge about as twice as its worth. You can then post whats the maintenance charge is for here and we will tell you what to do about it.

just checked with another dealer... $350 for the same service. guess the first place was either trying to bend me over a chair or had no idea what they were talking about.

Yep, that would be the Audi dealer for ya. 300% higher than everyone else.
Check with a V dub dealer for the same service, too (if you want to keep your records straight)

As others stated, see what is included. It is likely oil change and cabin filter. Sparks are at 55K I thought but check. An oil change is an $80 job and the cabin filter is another $30 - $40. Spark plugs are $25 and a half hour install so $75. This is a total of about $195 in work with spark plugs or $120 without. You could do it all yourself for $70 for the oil change and cabin or for $100 for the oil, cabin, and plugs.

    cheers! mike

Well for $1100 am guessing the dealer did a VAG check and found some bad sensors or something really wrong. Thats the price of a Timing Belt job, so keep that in mind (8 hours labor + $400 in parts)
