    Wheel Help (w/ Stoptechs)

Ok, so I bought some titanium package wheels (they're 18s) and tried to put them on today and they wouldn't fit because of the depth of the caliper. They wouldn't even fit with 8mm spacers! WTF? And if I go past an 8mm spacer, I will rub like a mofo 'cause it's slammed. Then, we put them on my dad's B7 S4 and they fit just fine.

So he's going to buy them off me and now I'm in the market for new wheels. I like the split/mesh spoke look but I need something that will fit with my Stoptechs. Thanks

What was the offset of those wheels? How big is the stoptech kit?

18"x8" w/ 43 offset. But it was because the way they are shaped that they hit the caliper (Stoptech 332mm rotor & ST-40 caliper). I have 17X8 on right now and they fit because they are contoured differently.

Take a look at these, they have great brake clearance. The RE will definitely clear fine, the RXX should clear but I would need a template to make sure. The RE has some of the best brake clearance in the industry.

    Re: Wheel Help (w/ Stoptechs)

You are correct that the design of the wheel does come into play when it comes to clearing brakes, but so does offset.

FYI, I have an offset of +27mm on my fronts just so I can clear my B6S4 brakes! A wheel with +43mm offset really is to small.

Visually what size spacer does it looks like it will take to clear the brakes? Usually an offset of +35mm will clear most brakes and sit nice and even with the fender.

My +27mm on the front, brought the front wheels PERFECT with the fenders.

I thought it looked like a 5mm would EASILY! But then we put a 5mm on and it still didn't clear. A 10mm would but then I'd have to raise the suspension 'cause it would rub.

Ok, so the smaller the offset number, the further it comes out towards the fender?

The S4 wheels, 18x8 ET45, clear my 355 Alcon's by about 2-3mm. I cant believe those wheels dont clear, especially with 332's. Never would have guessed that!

Smaller the number, the more poke.
