Wassup fellas! im in the market for a B5 S4 and looking to get your opinions. which one of these cars is a better deal? im torn between these two cars and i cant decide any feedback would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance!

    OPTION 1 - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-...=p4506.c0.m245

    OPTION 2 - http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/n...853546589.html

im leaning more towards the stage 3 jus cuz its a freakin stage 3...but it seems like it might give me some trouble later on down the road.

on the other hand, the 2001.5 S4 looks and sounds REAL clean!!!

The stage 3's dyno doesn't look so hot. The craigslist S4 looks very clean, but the pictures also look enhanced somewhat.

Tough decision.. I just bought a stage 3 car.. it's a constant battle man, you're always going to be doing something to the car. Make sure you have the car FULLY INSPECTED before buying it! or look at it yourself if you know enough about audi's.

    Good luck.

^2nd. I actually like "option 2" better. Much cleaner, and I'd take the B7 RS4's over Enkei's any day...

I can almost guarantee that the stage 3 hasn't been babied, where as the other one there might be a better chance; the owner seems pretty anal

edit: that second post looks pretty sick with the low light and under-exposure... I think I see a couple dimples on that rear quater though, in case you missed it.

yea option 2 dude seems pretty anal. im tryin to set up an appt to check it out. is $14,750 for this car too pricey?

i think im better off getting the stage 3 done myself...what do you all think?

I'd be wary with the stage 3 car......especially with his statement that he's NEVER had a single problem with the car. Come on now, this is a B5 S4. You've had problems.

I'd go with the second option and do it yourself. That way you know what you're getting into. Everyone I know who has done anything to their S usually drives them hard because its fun to do.

Throttle body boot tears, diverter valves go bad, 1-2 syncro wears out in the transmission....those are some of the more common problems. I wasn't trying to scare you away with my post, just that his comment about never having a problem is kind of unrealistic unless he's the luckiest guy in the world

Well in my two months of owning the car here's whats broken or gone wrong:

    Valve cover leaking (fixed)
Cam seal leaking (to be fixed)
Rear brake pads changed (no big deal)
Throw out bearing broke into pieces (transmission had to be pulled to replace it)
The rack is leaking, needs to be replaced
    Front dampers were blown (fixed)

Some of it is my fault for not catching it before buying the car - so like I said, have the car looked at.

But that being said, I bought a one owner car, with only 69K on it - all work was done at AWE tuning - and I have all receipts to prove it.

When the valve cover was off, the inside of the car was so clean it looked like the previous owner changed the oil ever 500 miles.

When the trans was out to replace the TOB, the flywheel looked so clean. There were NO hotspots on the flywheel, it was NEVER launched or abused.

Buying a modded car is buying someone elses problem - just make sure you know what problems you are buying. Good luck.
