what to use for fuel management?

i got new intercooler pipes, and now i need something to tune the car with. i have a '99 1.8 a4. what do i need to tune it? and please don't be jerks about it. i have searched all of the forums. what would you recomend?

Tuning is basic for a k03, get a chip. GIAC is the most agressvie for 1996-1999.5 audis

You're not just going to be able to connect a lap top to your ECU and "tune" it.

If you want to make adjustments for each change you make to the engine, you need to go with stand alone management.

well thats what i was thinking. just connect to a laptop and thats it. but the guy who will tune it for me said i need stand alone management. what should i get for that?

Why would you go standalone for like 1800 bucks plus $ on the tune, when you can get GIAC to flash your ecu for you for like $350. Your on the stock turbo right?

I don't want to be a dick, I'm going to try and avoid sounding like one, so here goes.

#1 Until you're pushing >400whp you don't need a standalone.
#2 Installing new/upgraded I/C piping doesn't require a tune.
#3 Who's the dude that will be tuning your car?

My recommendations.
1. Figure out what your long term goals are for the car, and work directly towards that with minimal lolly gagging around on the way. Specifically how much power or even what the biggest turbo you could want on the car.
2. Call up Unitronic, GIAC, Eurodyne, ... etc. and start looking into companies that can flash load your ECU for you. A fully tweaked & dyno'd custom tune from Unitronic is still less than the buy in for a standalone, and it's an "all in one" package. No fiddling with wiring or trying to find a place to mount the damn standalone.

EDIT: Tuning VW's and Audi's isn't like tuning with Hondata or Nissan stuff. The principles are the same, but we don't need a stand alone. ME5 and ME7 (stock ECU's) are pretty much a stand alone by them selves. You just need somebody that knows how to deal with Audi's
