This week I'm picking up a 2000 A6, bone stock with 140k on it. The car itself is in really good shape, and not destined to stay stock for long.
A little about me. I can't leave cars alone. I currently have a 2003 Dodge SRT-4 I bought new 5-1/2 years ago. There's almost nothing left stock on it, and it's a blast to drive. However, 450 whp is fairly useless on the street in a fwd, it's a little loud for longer trips with my family, and I need something new to play with.
That brings me here. I'm picking up a 2.7 bi-turbo 6-speed to start working on. I do all my own work on my other car, but have no experience with Audi's, although working on my wife's tdi Beetle has caused me to curse German engineers more than once.
A few things I need to do right off the bat: Suspension, brakes, headlight.
The car is still somehow on the stock struts, so after researching a little, I'm planning on going with the Koni/Eibach combo. I've run that setup on other cars before with few issues. After reading some threads, I'm also going to look at Febi control arms.
Brakes: I'm dropping a lot in this car right away, so will probably stay away from a full brake kit for now. Any good recommendations for pads/rotors? I've used Hawk pads successfully, but on lighter cars. Also, it looks like Vivid Motorsports sells kits, and they're local to me.
Headlight: The passenger side headlight is badly fogged. Are there any options other than a new factory one?
Thanks for any input, I'm an incessant collector of information, and will likely be asking a lot of questions.
