It really depends on what you are after. Coilovers really don't offer any advantage, if all you want is a modest drop, and do not plan to go lower later.
A good spring/shock setup will handle just as well as a coilover for day to day use. If you track your car and need regular adjustability, then a coilover is more suited for you.
while coilovers offer the flexibility, i hear just as many people fighting to get the setup "just right" a coilover setup that is not adjusted properly is likely not to handle as well as a spring/shock setup.
my underpowered, overweight station wagon is not going to need a full track suspension, because it will not be spending much time on a track. sure I want something fun on the street, but that is easily achieved cheaper and with far less effort on my part.
1. pick a spring with the feel and stance I like.
2. pick a shock that offers the performance I am after.
3. never worry about it again.
everyone is different and their needs are different. decide what you want it to do and then pick the parts accordingly.
