    Re: Question about insurance

Why are you going through your insurance? You should be using his insurance company to get it fixed and you are not liable for a deductible. If you decide to use your insurance, then make sure a police report is made and that your co-worker called his insurance to let them know he is at fault. Then you pay your deductible for your insruance to get your car fixed and like 5 months down the road you will get it back after the claim is subragated.

    Re: Question about insurance

Yeah you shouldn't have to pay anything at all if you have his insurance take care of it, which is how it works when he said it was his fault.

While you're at it, you can also easily have his insurance company pay for your rental car. They will cover up to so many dollars per day, so usually you can only get the economy rental car but hey

    Re: Question about insurance

Insurance regulations and practices are different in every state, in Mass and most of the north east insurance follows the car. So ever accident in your car will be covered by your insurance company. You have to pay your deductible and the insurance company will cover the rest. The next step is your insurance company will go after your co-worker’s insurance company for 100% reimbursement. At that point your insurance company will reimburse you your 500$ deductible. That is if they ever settle or even decided to go after the other insurance company.

The only sure way to get the 500$ deductible covered is to take your co-worker to small claims court. This too takes time and effort. Best off just going to your co-worker and saying hey I think you should pay my 500$ deductible and reasonable people will.

I work in the insurance business so I know the info and this is pretty much the way it is
