Dealer switched my head unit out and now bose sub 1/fraction of volume. Suggestions?

My in dash 6 disc stopped accepting discs so the dealer switched it out under warranty. After the swap I immediately noticed a drastic decrease in bass output. I brought it to the service writer's attention but they showed me that the sub was functional, so I left.

Well, the sub may be working, but it is about half the volume as before (even with the bass all the way cranked). I decided then to go to the dealership to test out another bose car just to make sure I wasnt going crazy. It pounds twice as hard as my car does now.

Do you guys have any suggestions here? Im thinking either the unit needs to be recoded, connection is bad, amp failing, sub itself broken, or output of new unit is faulty. Im anticipating that this is going to be a bitch to get handled correctly.

If you have a vag-com definately check the coding. With the fade set in the middle, and the front and rear speakers equal volume?

If you have a Bose system, there is a pin setting required to tell the headunit that you have the bose system. It's a pin that either has to be left floating or grounded (i forget which). Try the opposite setting to whatever it is and hopefully you'll solve this issue.

Search for TJHUB... or look for his post in the new member guide sticky on top that he wrote up about this pin in a DIY for upgrading your sound system.

also, you have a 2005, so I am assuming you have Symphony II... i'll help you search but you should search for a hidden menu that the Symphony II has... I think I read that in one of the threads related to "did you know your a4 can do this" threads... sorry haha i don't remember titles... i just remember what they were about.

    peace.

Thanks guys.. I will check for the pin swap, but does anyone know the proper coding for my unit? I have an 08' w/ the symphony 6disc in dash w/o the tape slot. I think its called symphony III. Oh yeah and bose of course

not sure about the B7, but on a B6 if you hold the Tone button down for around 10 secs. it'll give you a power output (volume) menu where you can just turn up the bass and overall level of sound. my bose unit sounds 10x better at 75% output, rather than the stock 50%. just a thought.
