Unless you tear out the air suspension and put in coilovers you get about 8" of suspension adjustment at four set points controlled from the cabin. There is a mod, typically called 402 mod, that allows you to raise/lower the suspension with a VAG-tool from the factory set positions. Find a nice flat spot, raise or lower the suspension in 5mm increments until it sits where you like it. Slam it for the summer, but still keep enough height adjustment to do some light off-roading. In the winter jack it back up to the factory height and you get a little more clearance for daily driving and the extra height for the deep stuff.

8 inches? Damn, I didn't realize it raised and lowered that far. That's cool.
So far, out of every car I have driven, the S6 with snow tires is, by far, the best in snow. I would guess that an allroad is even better.

Sorry, my bad. I guess I did not write that as clearly as I could have. For off-road use, the suspension can be raised to 8.2 inches (at which height, it exceeds the BMW X5 ground clearance by more than an inch, and matches that of the Land Rover Discovery).

FWIW lowest (factory) clearance is 5.6", then 6.6, then 7.6, then 8.2.
