    Citylights Relay...

Ok, so i'm tired of buying Citylight bulbs for the damn ecodes. Does anyone have a wiring schematic of the lighting system? I'm going to see if i can do one relay near the switch or if i have to double up and do it at each of the headlights.

My plan is to force the switch to turn ON the citylights at the first click on the switch, then turn them OFF when the headlights turn on. I'm hoping this will give me a little more longevity out of those stupid little bulbs.

If there's a VAG-COM code to change it, then i'm all for that as well!

from what i know there is no vag to disable city lights when xenons are on. however if it makes you feel better, i think you can get these long life halogen bulbs for WAY cheaper at the audi dealer than online..i think i paid 20 bucks for 4..otherwise..go LED/resistor route?

What are city lights? When I was younger it was the 194 colored bulbs that the Honda guys inserted in their headlights, similar to parking lights, but better looking. Especially during the "underground" drags in Northern California.

    Re: Citylights Relay...

well, i tried the stock halogen bulbs that came with the ecodes, those lasted 6 months months and then i replaced them with LEDs and load equalizers. those lasted about 6 months and i found another set of stock halogens that lasted me about 5 months. I don't drive the car everyday anymore, so i end up driving it at night when i do take it out for a spin. I'm just looking for a way to make them last longer without killing their lifespan...

same here, about 6 months. they last longer when you dont leave your lights on and then restart the car (while getting gas at night etc).....maybe voltage flux?

Hmm, mine lasted about 2 years and they are just the regular oem bulb. You guys aren't touching the bulbs when you install them right?

8watt bulbs, I'd say the chance of one of those blowing because of oil deposits on the glass is slim… Then again some of these bulbs are made with really cheap Chinese glass.

Same thing if you had JDM headlights. I had them in my Civic Type R headlights on my EK. On the A4/S4 they are on the E-code headlights under or to the side of the high beam.

I'm rocking Winston's voltage regulators and LEDs. My first LEDs from Ultraleds.co lasted me a pretty long time but I was too lazy to solder them (very anxious to install them) and as soon as a connection got loose they died, best bulbs I have had since though. I tried bulbs from Superbrightleds and Autolumination... they were ok, but both died in 2 months with the loose wiring. I am using 5 led BAX9s from Autolumination now with my regulators soldered and I have been rocking for about 5 months strong now.
