    Puttin Headlights In The Oven?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Alrightt i know ive heard and seen alot of mixed reviews on putting headlights in the oven to be able to pry them apart so you can do the DIY blackout headlights.

Give me some feedback because i was told to put it in for at the most 10minutes at a time at 200-250temp.

Is it safee or has anyone done it?

yes, they will be safe. just remove the bulbs/ballasts. you will probably have to go longer and keep a hair dryer/heat gun handy.

I would just go ahead and use the heat gun.

I have already done this mod, three times, and the heatgun works wonders.

blow dryer vs. heat gun are two completely different things... Get a heat gun.

I've done this at least a dozen times with other headlights and the heat gun works fine. The oven just scares me...and I really don't see it being that much faster.

bad proof reading i have used both heat gun and blowdryer..
ruins the plastic trim around the headlights.

oven i heard you can just heat up and pull apart eventually after a little of prying?

Re: Puttin Headlights In The Oven?

just a thought, take your time... I can see this turning out disasterous if the heat is too high in your oven. If you notice the heatgun ruining the trim around the headlight, you are rushing or putting the heatgun too close to the housing.

DO NOT PUT AUDI HEADLIGHTS IN AN OVEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is not the propper way to do this. You need to use a heat gun and take your time. The plastic audi uses for their headlights will melt in an oven.

If you are worried about ruining the plastic anyway, THIS MOD IS NOT FOR YOU. To seperate these headlights you need to pry**** the housings apart. Whenever you "pry" something it never looks the same..

You are better off spending money on E-Codes.
