    Questions for you 4.2 guyz!

ok guyz, i know you all don't know me around the 4.2 forum cause i'm always in the B6A4 forum. anyways i'v done alot of work with the 3liter you can check my threads or gallery. i see a whole new door opening for the 4.2 and the VF s/c. i'm sure you all would agree. that said, i have some questions.

1.has anybody ever done a built 4.2 short block?
2.are there headers for the 4.2?
    3.LWFW/clutch who makes?
4.Does anybody make a head stud kit for the 4.2?
5.Who's gonna be the first to drop the pulley size?
6.Will people try running meth with this VF kit?
7.How much power do you guyz think the stock pistons can handle?
    8.who makes a Oil Cooler?

ok, now some info and new gauges for you guyz to think about. well now there is a blower for the 4.2. guyz will be asking what gauges should i get. the best bang for your buck is the Innovate G3 kit. you get three gauges A/F, Oil psi, Boost gauges and the LC1 including software for $499. that my friends is a deal and Innovate is top notch. Also Port and polish of the VF blower for a few hundred at Stearn is a nice touch.

I hope people understand what i've wrote and why i posted this thread. sharing info only helps everyone. guyz that want to take there s4 to next level will be confronted with all of the questions listed above. I'v done them all with the 3liter. Lets see some 4.2's step up.

It sounds like it's time for you to step up to a 4.2 so we can all learn from you!?

Some time ago a person did headers, cams, and nitrous, but he wasn't from the States. As far as a built 4.2 short block, I don't know of anyone except maybe "hackers4" who's car is a work in progress:

Very old photos of custom headers:

Those headers look sick! Did he post #'s from the headers and cams?

I think this guy was from S Africa...he was a serious car guy. I don't recall the exact thread (I think it had something to do with going nitrous) but people were so rude and flamed him so bad I'm not surprised we haven't heard from him again. Too bad, we could have learned a lot I think.

3rd on this. thinking out side the box is one of the best ways to find good info. If you have someone doing all the work for you I would think we should suport that. Heck its not our money and if it is a complete failure we all learned for free. sad thing is most people want to stand on there soap box and show how smart they think they are. If they were trully smart they would just comment and then step aside. Bashing just is not productive

He said he was up to 416chp and 444nm (327 lb-ft) of torque with the nitrous, cams, headers, ECU remapping, etc. from a baseline of 310chp and 388nm (286 lb-ft) of torque. This was based on converted whp dyno numbers acquired before and after by the tuner (Chip Logic).

It sounds like he would have been better off dropping in a 2.7T.

Re: Questions for you 4.2 guyz!

I asked about headers in another thread thinking more along the line of some additional NA power. Right up the alley of the guy from South Africa and I agree we could have learned a ton from his setup if he was around to do Q&A with.

Not alot of huge fans of headers around here it seems. To each his own. BTW, nobody ever did answer me on if the RS4 header would fit the S4....

I don't know the absolute answer to this question, but it's probably no. It's a different block and from the Bentley manual images you can see that the bolt patterns for the headers are different.

Yeah, that's actually true and good point. I remember seeing the bolt comparisons and didn't even make that connection. I agree, it doesn't fit.

    Dang. That sucks.
