How can I tell if my B7 S4 has the Bluetooth Package

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I tried to do a search to no avail. I recently purchased a 2006 S4 with navigation. I tried to pair my bluetooth phone (blackberry) last night by following the instructions in the owners' manual (use phone to search for BT devices, etc). The phone didnt find any BT devices, which led me to think that the car didnt have BT installed. There are several buttons on the steering wheel which make me think the car has BT, though. (see attached)

    Can anyone help !

    Thanks in advance

    1. Hit the tel button

    2. Hit the setup button.

call Audi of America's 1-800#. Tell them your VIN#. If you own the car, they'll tell you over the phone the packages that came on the car. AccessAudi system is what they'll use. Or your dealer can do the same.

If you get a nerd at Audi, they may want you to fax them the title, if you haven't already registered yourself as the owner of that VIN. If you haven't, do it! This makes it easy when you need to call them for crap in the future.

You have GOT to be kidding. Either you are over 65 (pre-computer generation) or REALLY slow in the head. Your brainpower makes perfect sense seeing that you are from Florida. Are you sure you don't live in Kissimmee?

It looks like you should have it... follow the instructions above. You will have to generate a pin in your Audi that you will have to type into your phone when pairing.

Or just take it to Audi and have a salesman connect your phone for you. They will do it for free.

That's kinda harsh man. No need to be rude about it. Guy was apologetic and courteous.

Look in the armrest. If there are 3 rows of copper dots the car has bluetooth. This is the connection for the optional phone cradle that no one buys.

Wow, thanks for the welcome reception. I'm neither over 65 nor am I "from" Florida, but thanks for playing.

For those keeping score, the car was not equipped with BT, confirmed by (1) VIN no check and (2) lack of the cell phone cradle in the armrest.

Again, I dont see what caused the harsh response - I figured a car that retailed at 50K would offer BT as a standard item and there was nothing in the owners' manual that suggested otherwise.

sorry for that crap reception by the retard...he sounds like a 21 year old nutcase just DYING to jump on someone for something.

most of Audizine members aren't as useless! Too bad you don't have the bluetooth...I personally love it. Is it aftermarket-able?

Blue Tooth comes standard on the 2008 S4 only. It was an option before then.

    Yes, you can retrofit it.

Not cheap relative to the aftermarket solutions but well worth it IMO, especially as the car is already equipped with the RNS-E nav.

I work in IT and it took me a while to figure out that I did not have bluetooth on my RNS-E. But maybe I was just really holding on to the hope of it being there... I JUST got the car, still learning.
I called AoA (bluetooth not listed), Pressed TEL on the RNS-E (Telephone not configured), checked for signs of hardware inside car (no mic, no copper pins in armrest), attempted pairing with multiple handsets... DAMN I WANTS ME A BLUETOOTH!!!!

Thanks for the great recommendation. I will seriously consider the OEMpl.us product, if I can find a knowledgeable installer in the Orlando area.

    Thanks again,

I'd still personally go the OEM/Audi one instead of the FISCON unit.

For starters, the Audi mic installs in the overhead maplight cluster (ie out of sight).

Make sure that your key is turned, otherwise the BT will not be on and your phone will find no neighboring BT devices. I also just got a new S4 and it took me a few minutes to realize that you had to turn the key (as opposed to just playing w/ MMI while the key is not turned).

Kind of related to this topic..

I am looking at and test driving a few S4's. One of them (2004) had a "Teltronics" button on the instument cluster on the bottom right. Does that mean that, that car is bluetooth equipt?

I think factory is under the passenger seat. Aftermarket easier to stick it behind the glovebox, that's what I did (I have fully optioned early B7 S4, I don;t think bluetooth was available when I ordered).

It's not just under the pass front seat, but it's under the carpet under the pass front seat. You'll need to pull the lower door trim and pull up the carpet to see it. Which means removing the bolts for the seat and carefully leaning the seat back.

As this old thread started... turn the car on, hit the Tel button.

I wish there was a way to add it and not be $$ to do, and use the OEM functions.

Quick way to tell is to turn the key on (dont need to start the car) and hit the TEL button. If screen says something like "trying to connect...", you have BT. If not (OR, if the BT module has failed; yes that happens!), it will say something like "device not installed". This test only works for the first 60 seconds after the key is turned on, while its in "pairing mode". After that, all cars will show "device not installed" if there is not device paired at the time.

Also, i believe ALL B7 S4 had the steering wheel buttons, and all also have the telematics box under the passenger seat carpet (this module also serves GPS), so these are not good ways to tell.

    OR, call Audi.

Try not to "figure/assume" when shopping with real money on big ticket items. Try to research, research, research then make your move. Don't be an impulse shopper like most.

Ok guys when making comments aimed at individuals in a Revived thread from 2008 you may want to check their Stats to see if they are even active, and in this case Lauderdale75 not since 2012 and Fluffer it's been so long it doesn't even list his last activity.......LOL
