Some people have posted that VIS hoods suck, others the opposite, can anyone enlighten me with details please? The price certainly seems a lot lower than other options...

    Thanks

    Re: VIS CF Hood?

I had one on my Prelude, no rolled edges but other then that it was okay. I would make sure it's their "A" quality vs "b" on the weave.

I'm guessing for the price it's not but how would I tell (besides asking and trusting)?

When it comes to CF hoods, you get what you pay for.

    That's true for most things.

Well, in that case, who makes the best quality OEM style CF hood, preferably all CF and not half fiberglass (unless it really truly isn't worth it) that doesn't cost an absolute fortune? (I know there is some contradiction in there )

    Re: VIS CF Hood?

yup. its the latching part that is fucked up. the drivers side of the hood pops up.

if i take off the factory latch assembly it fits pretty good. but then i'm only relying on hood pins. I just used the factory latch plus hood pins for security. the hood pins help hold down the hood evenly.

And if you only rely on hood pins you loose hoods and windshield like I did. Speaking of which the 4th windshield in 2 months is finishing up settling up now.

    Re: VIS CF Hood?

I bought one back in my Honda days for my Prelude. The previous owner had tried to wax it and f'd up the clearcoat on it so I got it for a steal. My friend who owns a body shop says it's hit or miss with VIS. Some, like mine, fit well and look great while others don't...that being said I think I'll be looking into a vorsteiner cf hood this time around.
