Feeler: Impromptu AVANTS GTG @ Treasure Island Sat 9/27

Although the title says AVANTS only - this is most definitely open to all who want to come out for a short little GTG on a nice Saturday.

A quick impromptu GTG to get together and talk cars / avants. The weather is supposed to be nice - 74 degress and sunny (per the current forecast). We can meet up for an hour or so, shoot the $hit and take some pics of some nice avants with the CITY or the BAY bridge as the backdrop.

Other areas / time suggestions are welcomed.

I've reached out to a couple of folks already for this and want to open it out to everyone out there: avants and nonavants.

So far we have a some possible takers:

M-AVANT (C5 A6 avant): Maybe
ANTHONY (UR S6 Avant): Maybe
DOOBIESDADDY (AllRoad): Probably not (prior plans)
LA_AudiTR (C5 S6 avant): Yes

Again, this is very impromptu, and it really is something to jsut get some cars out there under some nice weather and talk cars for a little bit. The weather wont be this nice much longer, we should take advantage of it. If people want to make this another model specific meet (i.e. A3 meet, A6/S6/AllRoad meet), post up and come on by.

So there it is, lets see if there is some interest in this ...

FYI, not to hate, but i heard from a buddy that the people that "police" the grounds at TI said that the next unauthorized (which would be ANY) car meet that goes there, they would all be heavily scrutinized, and ticketed. probably something like loitering or some crap too.

Crissy Field in the Marina has Nike SF Run Club training for their upcoming marathon on Saturday mornings. Unless you get to the Crissy Field parking lot really early (8am), you'll probably have to park on the grass... if that at all. Won't be able to make this gtg as my avant is still in Livermore. But if you do get out to Crissy Field, I'll check out the cars since I should be out there running...

x2 however I was there with one other friend taking pics and an unmarked plain clothed officer not only greeted us but told us where to go for some good shots. I'm not sure what constitutes a "meet" for them... more than a few - less than a dozen? Who knows

i'll scope it this weekend to find the exact spot, it's near my house. they have closed off a few areas, but there is still plenty of room. I'll post an satellite photo when i find it. I am down for any time and I would like to go to 034 too in caravan.

I'll try to get a spot with some nice ships in the background or the the bay bridge.

You guys could always meet over by Hangar One. (http://www.hangarone.com/home.html) I know that lot is open and you can provide an actual address for those using a GPS. It can get confusing navigating through there...

2601 Monarch Street, Alameda, CA 94501

From San Francisco:
Go across the Bay Bridge and stay in right lanes for 880-S to San Jose and Alameda. Take the Broadway/Alameda exit and turn right at the signal onto 5th. Stay in right lane to Alameda. After the third light, angle left into the Alameda tube. Follow Alameda directions below.

From Berkeley and the North:
On 80-W stay in left of center lanes at the MacArthur maze to San Jose and Alameda to 880 S. Take the Broadway/Alameda exit and turn right at the signal onto 5th. Stay in left lane to Broadway and angle left to the Alameda tube. Follow Alameda
directions below.

From the East (Concord, etc.):
Take 24 to Oakland (980). Take 12th Street Exit straight ahead to 5th Street (just past 880 overpass). Turn left (stay in one of the left two lanes), continue through the tube to Alameda. Follow Alameda directions below.

From the South Bay:
Go North on 880 to Broadway exit (downtown Oakland). Turn right on Broadway, then right again immediately at the first light onto 7th street. Straight ahead two blocks to Webster Street. Turn right on Webster into Alameda tube. Follow Alameda directions below.

From Alameda:
As you exit the Webster tube, the road forks; stay in the middle. Turn right at the first signal onto Atlantic. Follow Atlantic almost two miles until just before the entrance to Alameda Point (the Naval Air Station). Turn right on Main St. and continue around until you arrive at the North Entrance of the Naval Base. Go through the gates, veer right, then make the first right-hand turn onto W Red Line Avenue. Red Line dead ends on Monarch Street; turn left onto Monarch. St George is the second Hangar on your right. The entrance to the tasting room and retail space is on the west side of the Hangar.

HA! Reminds me of our So Cal Avant GTG - it was awesome. We had crashers too, which actually made it a lot of fun.

Anthony - might as well meet up with us at the naval base (prob just an hour earlier than you were planning to show up at 034 - well shoot a coupe of pics. from the PMs and the response we could have up to 6 folks show up. it would be great to have a variety of avants show up to the meet for the pics.
