check it out guys. I knew I should have just spent the money to get it shipped to Oahu so Tai or Volksgerman could of done the work. Keep in mind this whole time I have been paying for insurance while the car was in there.

If you shipped your car here, Thomas would probably be too busy for turbo swapping, because he doesn't have the room and lacks the help to do it and volxgerman's handy work is not consistant. Jesse been taking his car to Sonics and he hasn't had any problems with them so far. Well, good luck will.

you paid $810 each to re-man the turbos? What did you get and where did you send them? Also $375 frieght to ship them back and forth is a bit much.

Since everything was already out for the turbo job they shouldn't have charged you that much for the clutch and some of the other work done. You should have just called TAI and scheduled a time to drop off the car with him. Everything could have been done within the week and probably a bit cheaper.

Yah I wish I sent it to Oahu, or up to NorCal and just leave the car up there till I get up there. I bought K04s but they already ordered the K03s (misunderstanding) so they charged me the shipping to them and the shipping to return them. So I had a credit of $1100. I wanted to see the amount I should of got charged for the TB, clutch/ flywheel, rear main seal, since the motor and tranny was out for the turbo swap. Thanks again for your guys time.

Hey do you have thomas #, and if you can ask him if he would be cool with giving me a quote on what he would charge for what I had done. I need to get a few quotes so I have a estimate in black and white to show him. Everyone that responded in the B5 section and some guys that emailed me agree that I really am getting ripped off.

Spoke with HPD tonight to see my right on getting back my car (uncle is captain of "blank" police station on Oahu" I am getting more info tomorrow on that. I really hate getting ripped off. In either of my companies do we even come close to ripping someone off even if they had no clue we were. I want to go there and kick everyone of those bastards asses. In the end I never signed anything, but I dont want to screw them out of what they should get from the job, just want a fair bill. Sorry for the rant, just finished training and still cant keep myself form getting pissed off.

Yeah dont worry man, its not crap, I actually used to run his file last spring...until I moved- then swtiched to ASP only because that had alot of support where I was (unlimited wideband logging and trouble shooting for free!), and they were real negative about marcs tune...alot of people are you know?

BUT- marcs tune, whatever the hell it is, actually hauled ASS! I honestly, no bullshit, think it was faster than the file I am on now.. although, I think its pretty close,

regardless it served me well.. ran a 12.6@ 115 MPH on only 19 psi!!! Stock pump file! SLow, 2.2 60 ft!

I was a stupid ****** and I couldnt unscrew my mbc to 23 psi because it got stuck..

That same night- asp was there, Ran the same time as me or only .1 faster in their Gt28 car!

I actually felt kind of bad about that. Of course the trap was way higher, but still.

So don't worry its a good tune! It never gave me any trouble. But it ran on the rich side, I think now though he has changed things, refined them etc.

I talked to Will,he did get charged a LOT,but when you are at a place where there is only ONE shop there is not much you can do.
If he had brought the car to me,I could have assesed the work needed and given an estimate,but he had the work done on the big island and they charge what they charge.....

I know volxgerman did a k04 swap for some doctor back in the day before thomas had a shop. But I have only heard good things about thomas work, just the prices a little more then others (volxs and sonics) but not as bad as what I paid not close,lol.

Oh and Thomas, sorry I forgot to post after I talked to you. Thank you for calling me right back after we hung up to give some insight. If I had to do it all over again I would of shipped it to Oahu, too late now. But I am taking the shop to court as of now. And there prices are not fair at all for the quality of work they do, no matter if I am in BI. Also note that they drove my car in the 93 oct setting (GIAC X) for over 100 miles, after I told them to return it to stock setting before driving it and they said they did. Well come to find out they didnt, nor knew how to. I had to show them how. I am running the stock fueling, will get the complete fueling kit installed in about 2 weeks. Leaving the island for a week.

That was a Silver S4 and I think the kit they installed was an AMS kit. I don't know if that company even exists anymore but I remember that guy had to go back to Volxgerman a few times to get problems fixed. Not sure if it was a bad kit or workmanship issues though.

Volxgerman did 2-3 k04 swaps. One of them belongs to someone here on the forum. Sonic hasn't done any K04 swaps. The dealer has done a few also, but charges 40 hours @ $125+/hr. As far as I can tell TAI does it the cheapest and quickest.

That car belonged to a friend of mines. The car now belongs to Galen. The AMS kit was bought from Achtuning back in the day. It was a peice of crap. It was slower than when the car was stage 2+. I ended up converting the car to a VAST kit as he didn't want to spend too much money on another kit.

I remember it was only boosting 16psi and calls to AMS and Achtuning resulted in them telling him to tighten down his wastegates more or that he probably had a boost leak. In the end it was just crappy software.

The AMS that sold Audi stuff is out of business. There's another AMS out there that works with Mitsubishis and other Japanese cars.

The 1 car I know the dealership did the owner was charged 40 hours. I'm not sure if things have changed since.

I charged around $2500.00 labor for K04 swap,I have done 3 so far.Every one I did never came back with not 1 issue due to faulty install,they were all 100% perfect.In addition I have done a crap load of suspension/waterpump/timing belts/service,you name it on S4....not a fun car to work on,but I git er' dun........
