    Getting Ripped OFF?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Okay guys I am finally getting my car back from the shop. The car went in the shop on 4-8-08 and I am only getting it back now. They pushed my car on the side many times because they had other cars to do even if my car was first. I have never rushed them or gave them a hard time always polite. I actually picked them up food once and brought back some goodies that the shop owner wanted from San Fran. I honestly dont think this shop have worked on a S4 before mine. Thats what I get for moving to a place with a hand full of Audis.

Well the car went in for warranty work that covered the turbos. The warranty covered up to $3800. The bill as it stands right now is 7,722. Please keep in mind I bought the K04s and inlets my self. Here is the invoice they faxed me, hope you guys can read it. While they were going to do the turbo swap I asked if the could do the TB, Clutch and FW. They had trouble doind the clutch and flywheel for what reason I dont know. They kept telling me it would not work the way I explained and that it was not fitting right. Even after a shop foreman for audi told them what to do. Please give some insite to this. I might of left alot of things out, sorry. Just really pissed off. I wish I could just go there and scrap each one of them. sorry for the venting.

    Re: Getting Ripped OFF?

thanks buddies, yah but I did get a small laugh out of that. It really would help if you guys new what they should of charged me since everything was out for the turbo swap, ie. the TB, Clutch/flywheel. Thanks again guys. I really dont want to take legal action on the shop, but if I have to then I will. Oh forgot to mention I never signed for the work to be done just verbal. Most of the part the ordered were with out my consent, it was ordered then told to me.

Damn, and I thought when RAI Motorsport had my car for a month and a week doing a clutch and exhaust install was bad.

For that price, my friend and I would have flown out to Cali, rented some garage space/tools and do the work for you... probably get it done (turbos, tb, clutch) in less than a week. We'd even send you off for a day at a massage parlor and a lobster dinner.

Haha, well now the car is in hawaii. Was in Vegas and will hopefully be in the bay area early 09. I like the massage parlor but take crab(food wise) dinner instead of lobster.

With that is I paid for the K04s. They ordered the K03s before I bought the K04s so they charged me to ship the k03s back. I had a credit of 1100 because I bought the turbos. Sorry to sound confusing.

    Re: Getting Ripped OFF?

I bet he is. Thats not how we do things here in hawaii, you dont rip people off like that. Hawaii is a small place and word gets around fast. But what would you charge for the extra work other then the turbo swap. And he even charged me to put on the "custom exhaust", I had straight pipes and how it was welded on there would make it hard for them to take off and put back on. So I ordered them a new exhaust so it would make it easier for them.

wow, that exhaust part is totally messed up. Weak sauce man. Once you're in the Bay, you'll be set. Things are so much more complicated over here.

    Re: Getting Ripped OFF?

they charged you list for parts (or more) and the times look pretty generous(for them), either they took their sweet ass time doing all the work or rounded everything up.

and since when has re and Reing a flywheel and TO bearing on a clutch job been extra?

    Re: Getting Ripped OFF?

Holy shit you are being ripped off. I would fight this all the way. I mean major rip off. They are charging you for each job individually regardless of what they are doing. How can they charge you 3 hours labor for valve cover gaskets when the motor is pulled? I could smoke a blunt, down a 6 pack and still get that job done in under an hour with the motor pulled. Same goes for the 3.8 hours they charge you for the tb. I did mine a year ago and most of the labor is just getting to the damn belts, which they already did by pulling the motor. This is another job that should have only been 1 hour with the motor pulled.

Seriously, can you even sit down after getting raped like this?

    Re: Getting Ripped OFF?

$1200 for the timing belt is about what the dealer would charge... but a private shop that knows what their doing should charge around $300 in labor only. They got you real bad on labor at $110/hr. I would also question why every itemized charge under the TB job is $110... does that mean they only charged you labor ?

Unfortunately when you don't take an active approach on your car repairs, and let the shop feel carte blanche on your car, you're just asking for trouble.

I dont mean this in a negative way but like I said before in hawaii you hardly ever get a biz that ripps you off like this. Hawaii is a place where you screw someone over you better be ready for you company to go down and you would really need to watch your back. I was on top of the repairs, I would call very frequently for updates. I went to the shop to check on the car a bunch of time. Keep in mind the shop is about 2.5 hours away. Everytime I went there I asked for a price and when the car would be finished. So YES I was on it the best I could be. I am very busy with our company here and also with my biz in NorCal. But thank you for taking your time to post in my thread, hope I can get this straightened out. I miss my S4 and still have a bunch of parts to install.
