well, driving home from class today i missed a 1 - 2 shift at about 6800 rpm, only to hear A VERY weird noise i cant even describe and i smelled gas and oil, i made it home and parked it, when i got back in later i started it up and it sounded like a mack truck.... pulled about 2 houses down and the oil light went on, so i just pulled over and parked it... theres oil EVERY WHERE inside the engine bay and on the street, im pretty distraught as so much more fucked up shit has happened today than this (i.e. kitchen fire in my new apartment...)

Well if you think about it is pretty simple, he most likely pushed on the gas while he was in neutral after missing going into 2nd gear. Our cars do NOT have a rev limiter while there is no load on the engine so this means the engine can rev to what ever it wants. This is one of the main reasons it is not good to try flat shifting in our cars, because if you miss going into the gear there is nothing stopping the engine from revving to over 10k rpm and when that happens the engine can go Kaboom.

ill be taking off the intake setup etc, to see if i can see anything majorly obvious, but being at school with limited tools, shes probablly getting towed over to Burlington, as theres no good shops on this side of the lake

but yea, i was shifting from first to second, it bounced out of second and i was already on the gas... all of my oil is sitting on the street infront of my house, so im assuming theres a nice hole somewhere

It still doesn't keep the engine from over revving to 10k. There have been plenty of Audi/VW's that have done it. I even did it with my stand alone setup when trying to flat shift and my stand alone cuts spark from 2 cylinders when you hit the rev limiter. Problem is that a engine with no load is going to rev up at a much higher rate then one that is under load. The only way to stop the engine from over revving well past the rev limiter when there is no load is to cut spark from all 4 cylinders at the same time.

so lets say theres no visible hole in my block(not confirmed yet)
theres no oil coming out of the head...
i feel like if theres gonna be a hole in my block it would be on the side, as its where (i assume) its thinnest, but maybe it shot into my oil pan?

but all my oil is sitting in the street, where could it be coming from?
i really wish i could at least put the car on some jackstands but my apartment has a gravel parking area and the street isnt flat :-\

well if you really did put a hole in the block the car would make a horrible clanking noise, obviously run on 3 cylinders, and sound like a major disaster. Does it sound like that?

it sounds "super rough", i cant see any holes, but it appears to be on the bottom, so i dont really know, getting towed to a shop tommorw

I blew the motor on my G60 Corrado. Was on the highway being tailgated by 2 kids in a civic. Downshifted, nailed the throttle and suddenly the entire view in my rearview mirror was blue smoke....a piston disintegrated and scored the wall pretty bad in the process. I drove it to NGP in Maryland like that to be rebuilt, a long and embarrassing drive.........
