    Noob needs softer supension recommendations...

Noob here, recent Audi convert: 2001 A4 B5, 1.8T fwd, revo chip, MTM DV. I'm looking to upgrade my suspension but primarily interested in "softer" options, if the Mrs. says it's too rough a ride, my mods are over. I would like recommendations on suspensions more geared toward comfort than track...stiffer than stock but not much more so while lowering 1.5+". Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated, not much help on other boards since I'm not asking for track setups. This is a daily driver looking for the next step up without sacrificing the current comfort. Thanks for your help...

The only springs I know of that are sport (which is what you would want for a softer ride) which gives you 1.5" drop is the Nuespeed Sports. You will not get the + unless you go race springs or coilovers (I do not know how soft you can adjust the dampening with ones such as Koni/Stasis).

H&R Sport springs + KONI Sport shocks. Ran them for years on my B5A4FWD and they were very comfortable.

Koni is definitely the way to go for the dampers. I've just driven two very similar setups and the one that should have been stiffer was on Konis and rode better. One was my daily driver A4 Avant with Shine 400 pound springs and Bilstein HDs with just a rear H-Sport bar, nothing up front. The other was my old company car S4 Avant with 500 pound Shine springs and Konis and both H-Sport bars. So the S4 is 10% heavier but has a 25% higher spring rate so it should be stiffer. My car is more comfy with the big front bar on the shelf so the S4 should be choppier over bumps. It makes my car feel like a clunker. The S4 is just smoother. It is the one for the ladies and still just as good on the track.

Re: Noob needs softer supension recommendations...

Thanks for all the responses guys. Looks like Koni is the consensus for shocks. I'm leaning toward the H&R sports as they have been mentioned numerous times on other boards too. Don't think I really need coilovers, they are a good bit more expensive and I would think more tricky setting up (balancing) to get any advantage over a spring/shock package. I can do without the additional drop, a 1/4-1/2" won't make any difference to me. Thanks again for the input, you've helped narrow down the decision.

    Mike@PureMS, you got mail.
