Transmission Related - Plug on bellhousing?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
When I installed my egts some time ago I noticed that on the drives dide of the bell housing (it seems to be on the bellhousing) there was a hole in the transmission.. kinda looks like a plug of some sort goes there.. here is a pic.. look behind the egt to see the hole:

Now, does a plug go there or is that some kind of a vent? also, is that hole on the bellhousing or is it on the transmission itself(the part that holds oil).. I ask because if it is on the transmission I may have to dump the oil and put new oil in since there is the risk that water got in there...

Please, no guesses, only reply if you know for sure.

    Thanks,
    Jonathan

no its the dry area around the clutch, my car has nothing there either and i wondered the same.

    its normal.

PS you need a new o-ring for your green coolant temp sensor. :)

Driver side is the after run coolant sensor and the temperature sensor is on the passenger side. He is right it wouldn't be a bad idea to replace the o-ring. you can pick them up the deal for under a buck. Also get a extra clip or two just in case you break one which happened to me, they are really cheap as well.
