Cool $3500 to spend on BT setup, *help*

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Alright I'm getting deployed in January, and will have some $$$ to spend on my car. $3500 would be nice, but I can maybe go higher if rly needed

    Current Mods:

    Neuspeed 2.5" Exhaust
SB Stage 3 Clutch w/ LWFW
    Tt225 DV
    Koni Coilovers

That's pretty much it on performance mods.

So who on here can help me build a decent setup...

    Obviously I need:

    FMIC
    Turbo Kit

    What software?

Who on here should I buy it from?

    Maybe Water/Meth?

    What other mods?

    Manifold, blah blah.

034 Motorsports seems to sell most of the stuff...

I want fast, but something I won't have A LOT of trouble with.

I plan on doing install DIY w/ friends.

    I'm serious about this.

Let me know what yall think

Believe it or not, this topic has been covered.

    and here!

Everything depends on your personal preference, and $3,500 (maybe $4k) is a perfect budget b/c you already have a clutch. Read up, wait for holiday sales, and buy.

EDIT: I guess I'll chime in with my personal preference, as Im sure that's what you're after. I would get the GTRS kit with Revo software, the FMIC can come from any of the major suppliers. For instance, an ecode GTRS kit is $2700, a FMIC is $850, thats $3,550. Enjoy!

I have a lightly used (2500 miles) Garrett GT3071r for sale $975, it is $1400 when bought from ATP Turbo or pretty much anywhere else. It has a V band adapter on the exhaust housing to bolt a 3" v band down pipe to. Look for a used ATP manifold for around $250 or buy new $395 and then get some oil and coolant lines (around $250) , 630cc injectors (around $200), a dowpipe and a little intake setup or filter for the turbo and you are set! Well then some software to run it for around $700.

    Turbo $975
    New mani $400
    Injectors $200
    lines ~ $250
    Software $700
    downpipe ~ $400
    Total of roughly $2925

    Then you need an intercooler.

That turbo you can run around 20psi range and make roughly 300whp and it has the possibility to make mid 300s at high boost (need built motor though).

I've read that thread more than once, and I know how to search.

It's much easier to get peoples exact preference, and I'd rather have my own threads for other questions. Thanks for the attempt though.

The lag on a BAT is not that bad, the only probelm with it is you need to get rods for your car. Take everyone else's advice here and get a GTRS with revo software. Get a SPS 3 ao you can add timing if you run race gas and if you want get meth injection for a little more fun. All of the above has been done by numerous people and is a proven set-up. Oh and also you may want to get a electronic boost controller instead of a manual one, but that is just my preference.

    So you're running REVO?

What are you putting to the wheels with your setup on pump gas?

    Thanks

There isnt bad lag. It is actually equal to if not better than the eliminator kits (GTRS or the 71r). Those have a much smaller inlet to feed the turbo exhaust gases so the T3 flange on the GT3071r allows it to spool up just as quick and probably faster than say the GTRS. I had a GTRS and would get 20psi at like 4000rpm, the 3071 will get you the same thing at like 100rpm less and slightly better with an AEB big port head.

You dont NEED to get rods unless you plan on running high boost and timing. You can run the 3071r way more efficently than a GTRS and make more power. A GTRS on pump gas is gonna give between 250-270whp range at like 22psi (GTRS is maxed out at 24-25psi so as you can see you are on the edge of the compressor map. The GT3071r at 20psi isnt breaking a sweat since it is good for up to around 30psi and you will be making closer to 300whp on pump while at 20psi and running descent timing. That would be equivalent to running the GTRS with methanol injection with full timing and 21psi but you will be making that power on just pump gas. And by the way I ran the GTRS at 300whp on a bone stock motor for a very long time ragging the piss out of it everyday, it dynoed that with the Revo software on Timing 9 (the highest setting) 20psi spike then it fell a little and meth injection running.

^^actually i like this idea very much so how much do u guarantee no connecting rods flying out the side at 20PSI?

Re: $3500 to spend on BT setup, *help*

Well take Shawn's dyno at 18psi which was like 268 or something like that (his has always dynoed a little lower than others) and with mine at 20psi it felt nearly identical to my GTRS how I ran it.

I can guarantee you wont be making over say 310whp even at like 22psi so you should be safe for sure at 20psi if you are using the REVO software. Like I said with mine on timing 9 (highest setting) and with 93 octane and methanol injection running it felt like my GTRS with them both at 20psi. There could have been a slight difference but not much. So running it just on pump gas (no meth, therefore less timing) you should be more than safe.
