for as long as ive owned the car, there has been a loud whine/winding noise in first gear. when i start from a dead stop it doesnt happen, only when i start from a slow roll. ive never paid any attention to it and thought it was normal for manuals. just thought ide double check on that and make sure it actually is normal. thanks guys!

do you get any/alot of vibrations at idle or even off-idle (like 1500RPM)?

    Re: whining in first gear.

I just had my transmission replaced last week because of the same thing.

First gear was worn down, and had chunks missing out of the teeth.

Luckily mine was under warranty. Otherwise it woulda been $7000 or so.
