Grab the collar of the shaft where it meets the transmission and pull/push it straight toward the back of the car. It should flex enough to fall out. You can also jack up the tail of the transmission a bit (after unbolting mounts) to get some more clearance. Shouldn't require a hammer.
DefiantS4 helped me out a lot and he’s got good advice… To add to it, because I had 91+k miles and mine was a b#tch too, if you look at the drive shaft, where it connects to the tranny, from front to back, there is a rubber thing, then the hub to the driveshaft. If you look at the hub, from front to back, there is a brass-colored plate, then the silver cylinder in the middle, then another brass-colored plate, and then the 6x6mm allen bolts. If you look at the silver cylinder in the middle, there is a groove. What I did, was put a flat head screw driver in the groove and tapped it gently with a hammer. Tapped it towards the rear of the car and out she went.
It helps a lot if the subframe is already lowered before that, too.
