Well I was driving along on 97 South and the steering wheel got kinda stiff like the power steering went........then the low battery light came on. I knew it had to be something serpenteine belt related. So I pulled over and the sure enough the serp belt was schreded. I just replaced the serp belt 600miles ago so something had to of seized. I just replaced the AC compressor so I dont think it would be that, so i guess it would have to be the idler or alternator. Anyone know what else it could be that runs off the serp belt? Does anyone have any of these parts for sale that can be over nighted to me? I was able to get the car to Induktion and they said they are going to look at it this evening or tomorrow morning. I am trying to get the car back together befoe H2O so I am going to need some parts very fast once they tell me what it is. Please send me a PM if anyone has any Serpentine related parts(alternator, idler, ect) for sale that can over night to me if need be.

I can get you an Idler pulley from a local junkyard if a 2.7T has the same one as a 1.8T or 2.8, I had an Idler pulley fail on one of my 1.8T's with the same results.

Yea I know. I didnt hear or smell anything. The only reason I knew something was wrong was because my low voltage light came on and the steering was stiff. I think its just weird that I didnt hear or smell anything.

The allen bolts at the top of the power steering pulley may have worked loose. Mine did and munched up the belt. Maybe that's what happened to you too?

Re: The S4 broke on the way to work today.

Just got word about the car, aparently whoever had the car before me put the power steering pump pully on backwards and that ate the brand new serp belt in 600miles. I mean you would think that someone would have noticed that when I had the front end removed when I got the car to put in an AC compressor. Ohh well, I guess I got off easy this time with only a $122 bill. Oh the the highs and lows of S4 ownership!

$122 with parts isn't a bad price considering what a PITA that belt is to change.

ford will charge you that much to do one on a focus, and that takes about 10 min.
