ran against an early 90's cobra...

driving home the other day and looked in the rear and saw a pretty decent looking mustang cobra. Driving for a bit and realized he was looking for a little fun.

he got in front of me for a bit and he took off, caught up pretty quick so i think he figured ehhh what the hell might as well.

so we finally got out in the sticks on a two lane road. no traffic for miles. down shifted into 4th, at about a 55-60 roll we took off. i had a slight jump but backed off and waited a second for him to get on it as well. at the end of fourth i saw him pulling. shifted into 5th and looked back and could see him at about the rear panel. end of 5th shifting into 6th he was completely behind me. ran 6th out until about 130.

definitely NOT expecting a run like that at all, especially with so much oil being burned in the combustion chamber. One up for the smoking beast :)

damnit maybe it was 65... lol i guess i am not very good with the details. i was just siked to pull on a cobra............ next time I will take notes as I race...lol

i think this is the fox body style.... did a good search and it looks like a 91-94 body style. somewhere in between there.

good question, They only made a foxbody cobra in 1993, the final year of the fox. It had 245 hp as opposed to the 225 from the gt. I've heard of bone stock fox cobras running hi 13's. I ran my bone stock 88gt to a 14.2 at 98.

Most likely it was an sn-95 cobra (1994-1998). The 94 and the 95 had the 5.0L almost identical to the 93 fox but of course was much heavier. the 96-98's had the 4 cam 32V 4.6 v8.

Either way, he had mods to hang with you.

96-98 definitely... he had cowel hood, pretty sweet paint job (+5 horse) :) and exhaust. didn't hear anything else but kinda hard to when i am running WOT
