    Re: lowering the audi

Well I would say an inch isn't terrible and you could probably just do the springs. That being said, I would also consider that your car is at least four years old. So it would probably be worth it to change out everything. I believe the factory sport suspension lowers the car 1inch from normal. They usually measure the lowering height from a non sport car. So if you have a sport equipped car you might not see to much difference.

Try searching for "Eibach Pro-Kit / Koni FSD". I have that setup, and I have no complaints about handling or ride quality.

Model year and confirming sport package would help. Eibach springs work well but I would definitely save up and get shockstoo. Lower springs will eat your old springs up in a hurry and the ride will be bouncy. Plus it will save you paying 4 1/2 hrs labor twice! Just my 2 cents your car and yiur $ . Additionally I too like koni FSD with Eibach as they work well together to get an almost stock-like ride while lowered about 1.3".
For improved handling get HSport sway bars too. Amazing product.
    Have a great day, Brice

    Re: lowering the audi

Ditto to Gigi -- shocks at same time (and probably bushings -- how many miles?) and save future labor. And sways. I still haven't managed to get noise out of my tires with Eibach and sways and Bilstein set-up. Car stays flat and glued to road.

Moot point for me at this time, but I'm still curious where FSDs line up with Koni sport and Bilstein sport shocks. I think consensus is that Koni sports are a tad harsher than Bilstein's. And of course I added springs at same time as change in shocks so no hope of assigning change in ride to one element. I do feel road cracks more than on stock shocks, but on undulations on pavement I've never felt a car track so smoothly.

And to the "drop" question, hell I had about 4" clearance with old stock set-up. Like a wrangler. So my drop was over 1.5" with Eibachs. And needed to be. But still a far cry from coil look favored by some here (not me).

    Re: lowering the audi

What you realy need is variable hight suspension, so that when you get on a bad road you won't tear the oil pan off or get the front bumper caught on a parking lot curb.

But now you're talking change-on-the-fly variable height, which pretty much means air ride suspension.

    Re: lowering the audi

i would definitely go with Coilovers. It lets gives you the flexibility to change your ride height. Right now I'm pretty low with the rear tucked about a quarter inch and zero fender clearance in the front and I'm loving it. In a few months, I may tire of it and go higher, or even lower. However, the costs are higher and there is the option of just going springs and shocks.
