    Power question with sport mode

This may be a noob question, but here it goes.

Since our peak torque/hp is between 3500 to 5300 rpm with APR 93, under straight hard acceleration doesn't it make more sense to not use Sport mode with the auto tranny since sport mode keeps the RPMS higher in the power band than the regular drive mode?

Keep in mind im talking about the CVT 7-speed multitronic... yes i know... totally gay and wish i got quattro.

And also keep in mind im talking about flooring it in a straight line for max acceleration, not response time from the tranny which Sport mode obviously gives you.

Re: Power question with sport mode

I usually have it the Tip mode and shift at 5500 rmp so boost does not go lower than 15 psi and for it to spike again at almost 20 psi. I usually don't like using it on sport since ratios change and it shifts where there is no power. I only use S when I want to chirp the tires on the move.

That would be an interesting comparison. Let me kno if u do that.

Shifting in tip at about 5500 sounds like you'd get the most consistent boost, although i don't have a boost gauge so i cant verify that. I've noticed on the highway that i get more pull in drive than sport tho hands down, so that's where my initial question came from.
