Any Tips For the Process of Replacing the Knock Sensor?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So with the help of some fellow AZ'ers i was able to narrow down that my knock sensor on the rear of the block has to be replaced/retorqed. I tried searching both the forums and google but couldn't find anything like a DIY/Walkthrough/etc on how to get at this, and it looks like a pain, so....

I was wondering any of the following:

1.Who here has had to replace this sensor? and did you do it yourself?
2.What needs to be removed to gain enough access to it to do the job?
3.Any tips or tricks to help?
4.Has anyone been more successful than i was at finding a guide that would help in this job go a bit more smoothly? (DIY/Walkthrough/Guide...)

    Thanks!

Long extension, universal joint and small hands. Remove anything that's in your way. There are zip ties that are hard to reach but they are reusable kinds so don't cut them.

I'd suggest pulling the intake manifold, it's not hard and will make the job 5000x easier. You can clean up down in there too (and check the condition of your PCV parts) with it off.

I replaced my front one closer to cyl 1 and took like half hour. The one you need to replace, well, I can't even see it. I'd also recommend pulling the intake manifold.
