AWE exhaust install + random updated pics

I havn't shown pics the car since new mods. First is the awe quad tip exhaust install.

    Here are some random:

    My fav so far:

    Thoughts on exhaust:

Install was a bitch as alwasy with german engineering they have to think of something stupid like having bolt in the tightest spots. You have to take the whole exhaust off, including the downpipe even though i wasn't changing it. In order to get the bolts off that attach to the downpipe you have to take the whole downpipe + flex section off to access those bolts, just not enough room for anything to go in there. Once you get everything on comes the adjustment. i think AWE needs to fit tune this exhaust. Quality is awsome and they deff created a great product but adjusting to make it sit better in the rear valance is a biotch. As you can tell from the pic, one side is higher than the other. I got ride of the "angled" tips look and i also made the tips offset today. When i was at "end of summer GTG @ Ira audi" i saw a lot of rs4's and s5's with the offset tip look and it was great looking.

Drone???? Yes there is drone it's not completely gone with their little fix. between 1k - 3k it is a little loud in the cabin. But what you gonna do, i test drove a s4 last year and the stock exhaust had the same issue with interior exhaust sound.

Performance -- no sure. butt dyno doesn't seem to think so. I got it more for the look and sound. I didn't something ridiculously loud on the outside.

Exterior Sound -- PERFECT! I couldn't be happier what comes out of the tips. The vid on their website i think is a lot louder than the exhaust truly is. It is quiet after 3k but with a nice aggressive rumble under 3k. No raspy sound to it what so ever. For a quad system i was Very surprised in how quiet it is.

I'll be updating this after i put my testpipe on this week. I'm sure the sound will change slightly. wait for an update.

Oh yea, i wont be painting my rear valence either, i like the silver offset it gives to the rear of the car. Alot of the cars with exhaust at the GTG didn't have their painted and left at stock silverish color and it looked great on all the cars. Any questions just ask.

What is the Outlet diameter size of each exhaust tip? Also, where did you get the S4 valance?

i think their 3 1/4 inch each. or close to that. I bought the rear valence in the classifieds but oempl.com has some, as well as your local dealer could probably get you one.

awesome, thanks for the info. I think Quad tips definitely give the A4 a more aggressive look. That is already on my mod list.

Beautiful Audi! I have a b7 a4 and i really want to get this exhaust. I was just wondering if your car has had any problems with running lean or overboosting. No tuning involved?
    thanks!

Re: AWE exhaust install + random updated pics

no tuning, i do have a chip but i didn't get it tuned. I dont have anything to monitor weather im running lean or rich so i cant help you there. boost seems the same as before install: jumping to 20psi and settling at around 15-16 till 5500rpm. Testpipe should be on this week.

Hah, while the plates are pretty tight, it kinda defeats the purpose of a "sleeper" in being not obvious.......lol!

Nice look, but I'm sad to hear even after the "fix" the drone is a bit loud inside. That was my main gripe in my last car, cuz I'm both an car enthusiast and an audiophile. Nothing I hate more than exhaust drone messing with my bass!

Just get a good wheel-scrubber brush, you can find 'em cheap at Auto Zone or something. I bought a 2-pack consisting of a bigger one that's got long, soft bristles for light cleaning/being gentle, and a little one w/ more coarse scrubber things that you can bend around to fit between any spokes. Just dip it in the bucket of cleaner water as you're doing a wash, takes only a tiny bit longer and really helps the look.

    BOO to towels on wheels!

I am pretty much a noob and just started upgrading my a4. Did your exhaust void your warranty?

Re: AWE exhaust install + random updated pics

yes exhaust voids your stock exhaust warranty. Meaning if something went wrong with your aftermarket and you brought it to the dealer...you would to pay out of your pocket.

I actually used a toothbrush this one time, i detailed the crap out of my car for the GTG at Ira audi this past weekend. They are a PITA to clean and the stock brake pads are horrible with brake dust. Oh well, the one picture was worth the elbo grease. It really didn't take much longer than usual spounge but i a technique down after the first two.
