    coilover question

I have a quick question and want to make sure i am right. Koni coilovers from a 2000 1.8T quattro will fit on a 2002 s4 but the spring rates are not correct. So coilovers will also fit in reverse from the s4 to the 1.8T. Just want to be sure i have i correct. i did a search and could not find a specific thread stating the answer.
Always looking for the next project

    Re: coilover question

In theory yes. They're just set up differently for the added weight (to my knowledge), so the S4 being heavier would have a stronger spring for the increased weight. So decreasing the weight wouldn't have any harm.

    But I could be wrong.

i would say its right..call company and they will tell you if they will fit..they wont tell you if they will work due to liability..if they " fit" then yes because i have a6 avant coilovers on my a6 4.2 sedan..=D

    Re: coilover question

Koni does not list coilovers for B5 S4, but the B5 A4 ones will fit, and STaSIS uses them for their kit. Spring rates are ~400 lb/in all around.

As one tends toward higher performance suspensions in these cars, rear spring rates become higher than the fronts to increase rear roll stiffness, which allows a balanced setup like the Konis to work for eith ap.

Having used Konis before, I'd recommend buying the STaSIS SS setup, which for $100 extra gets damping set up on their shock dyno, and delrin spacers that allow the perches to be adjusted on the car. Regular Konis are near impossible to adjust ride height while installed.

there are 2 types of coilovers that fit the b5. ones made for quattro and ones made for FWD.
