Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I know I know, and I do use excel, but when I import the values in excel in puts them all in one column....(all in A). I did get it to put the values in 140 different rows (1,2,3,ect), but they are all in comumn A...

Here is the data I got from the Palm( time, rpm, engine load, number of missfires, missifire recognition:

Is there any way to simply put this data in excel without having to manually separate it all?

    Thanks in advance

so it doesn't save it as a certain file type then? I know it's a different program & OS, but VAGCOM on my laptop saves it as a file type (I forget what kind) that is automatically recognized by excel; puts it into seperate columns and everything.

nope, it saves it just like that... the thing is handy cause you can log on the fly if something is going on thats not normal. whereas you dont usully have a laptop in the car and hooked up at all times... I have the palm mounted on the front of the dash right by the steering wheel and its always connected to the car so its always logging.. when something is going on all I gotta do is look down and there it is.. the problem is that it doesnt create a file like the real vagcom does... grrrrr has anybody gotten past this.. maybe written a program that separates all that crap into different colums?

When you import the file, make sure it plain text. Then tell Excel that you want everything to be separated by a semi-colon and it should put each measuring block in a separate column. HTH

Re: Palm Vag Com Logging Help..... can log but how do I graph

I guess it could depend on which version of excel you are running (I am running an older version on a Mac, but this are basic Excel functions) - but for me, I just use File>Open, then a dialog box comes up asking how I want to import the file - I choose "Delimited" and then choose "Semicolon" as the separator. Are you familair with Excel at all? It takes a litte work to get from the raw data to graphs.

I dont know about you guys but boy its nice to have a vag com with you and hooked up all the time... right in front of you ready to log.. I mean.. I get in the car.. turn it on.. turn the palm on, push "connect to engine module" and then "m blocks".. type in the block I want and after that just push log.... good stuff!
