Stock boost is ~7psi (~11 for the 01). Sounds like you are being granted limp mode boost. You could try and reset the ECU via throttle body adapt and see what happens after that. Unplug the ground from your battery for maybe 10-15 min (Disclaimer:some say you will need the radio code for this, but I did it before and was told that the radio code thing was a fluke. Sure enough, it was. But I hold no responsibility if you need the security code for your radio after this). Connect it back, place key in ignition to starting position [position where all light on dash are on (do not crank)], and let the ECU adapt for maybe 5 min.

Another thing is I would not have tapped into there for the vacuum reading. I was told that it is not always 100% accurate on the gauge (I think that is what it was or maybe it is the other way around) and it is not a place you would want a leak. I would have tapped into the vacuum hose on the front of the intake manifold.

    Re: Boost spool issue

One could reset the ECU via Vag Com. Another issue is you could have a boost leak. You would need to do a boost leak test to find out. There are a couple write ups on the process.

    Method one
    Method two
    Method three(the one I use)

You will hear a hissing noice from where ever the leak is coming from, if you have one. That would cause you to lose boost.

Thumbs up Re: Boost spool issue

...i have found 2 leak so far while pressurized to 9psi (1 was located between boost brake cylinder and the intake manny on the pressure regulator valve and the other 2 was located by the injectors) so i have ordered at audi the parts (the valve, o-rings and plastic fittings 4 injectors) but unfortunatelly have to wait till saturday to get it al ...so let you know how it goes than!!!

    Re: Boost spool issue

that would be the reason why it would be making that extra few psi...
