Turbo kit based on Garret GT2860RS for 2.0 TFSI

I've got conversation with local dealer, they propose me to install Garret RS turbo with custom made(full race manifold), FMIC(I gues AWE, but it depends), injectors and fuel pump.
The RS have chosen(2871 much slower on low rpms) because it smaller and has more hp and tg on low rpm.
The limit of RS is obout 360 hp, my dealer sad that if I'm not going to low engine resource a lot I shouldn’t make more than 320 hp on stock internals. RS is ball bearing turbine which has very good reaction on low rpms. Any ideas?

Typical RS turbo upgrades (like VF engineering's) require built internals (you'll need stronger rods) for higher power levels, so this sounds right.

Re: Garret RS turbo kit for 2.0 TFSI

Here in Greece, multiple TFSIs, such as GTIs, S3s run over 360hp with stock internals, for a very long time...So I dont think its a problem up to 400hp...
What im saying is not something new though...

The RSS turbo upgrade from VF Engineering does not require built internals and will achieve 320~350whp. Only the RSR will require built internals and will give atleast 400whp.

I dont know if you guys saw this it was in the TT forum, This was an event in Greece from one of VF Engineerings new vendors

Our kit also fits the SEAT Cupra. Note the Greek flag on the engine cover.

    Thanks for the pics RAS

Sorry for the confusion, I realize I wasn't very clear. When I said "higher power levels" I mean within VF's range of kits, i.e., the RSR.

IT IS not RS turbo kit from VF(I'm not against that fellows, but my car is on the other continent...).

400 hp is possible on stock internals! But for how long? It would be a time bomb!
This kit is build on Garret RS turbo VF BT kit is build on 2871R which has more potential than RS turbo, but it has slower response because of larger turbo wheels. I need Very smooth power in car from low rpms, and not to have the beast at 5000 rpms
320-350 hp is much more than stock and this would be enough not to hurt internals

S3s kind a have a thing called FORGED INTERNALS.

Ps, Stock rods can gold up to 400 HP

If rods could gold up to 400, this amount of ponies will find weak place in engine, to take the way out. It's like when you ride on a time bomb
With forged internals it is possible to have 600,
but you have to rebuild your engine significantly, I'm not talking about sum of money required

    Exiting, inst it ?

I would have a high boost and low boost tune, High boost as close as I can get it to 385 and low 360 ( BHP ). Maybe I would throw in race to get that extra few ponies. ( wouldn't go anything smaller than a GT30 )

Remember this BTs dont produce that much TQ

Almost forgot to say, many 1.8T guys do what I just said on GT 28s and 30s, most motors last for a couple of years, but when they go, they go.

Last one I saw had one of the rods snap and make a hole the size of my fist on the block, plus the piston welded itself on the cylinder wall, and the rod produced other less pronounced craters.

K03S, and an unhealthy amount of nitrous.

That's what I'm talking about, I don't wanna to buy new engine in one year.
For more power you should pay more atentions to internals

By all means, do internals, because once you get a taste of the new power you are going to want more, and catastrophic failure is not nice.

On stock internals I'm going to have 320 hp. What do you think is it critical for engine?

    Great, good luck

Just double check on the injectors, I think there are BT specific Injectors.

the 28rs is good for small power, and decent low end torque. if you're looking for 320chp then a 28rs is fine for you. and no, you don't need to do rods for that power. the rods in these engines are stronger than 1.8ts
