Wierd problems after changing the battery

After changing the battery, the headlights are now always on when the key is in. No matter what setting I have the switch on (on, auto, or off) the headlights stay on and will only turn off when I turn off the ignition. Before I changed the battery they would stay off until I turned them on and in the auto position they would only come on when it was dark outside.

The other issue is that the auto dimming rear view mirror quit working. The little green light is not on and the compass is not working. This all quit working after I changed the battery.

    Any thoughts?

drive it for awhile and see if anything changes.

do you have a VAGCOM? i doubt you'd have any codes, but you can check.

often times another fix for stuff like this is to disconnect the negative terminal on the batter for a little bit - then hook it back up and see if that fixes it. (i realize unhooking the battery may have caused your problems to begin with, but it's worth a shot)

So you think my headlight situation is due to the switch going bad? I have a VAGCOM on order, so I will checks codes once it comes in.

What about the auto dimming mirror no longer having power (or maybe the mirror coincidentally quit working right when I changed the battery)

If there is a blown fuse then a fuse message is displayed on the dash. I checked all of the fuses and I don't have a fuse message. Are there any other fuses besides the ones in the fuse box?

you won't get a fuse warning in the dash - it's not that easy.

there aren't any others that would be causing the problems you're having now, from here your best bet is to check your headlight switch.

if you don't want to drop the money on a brand new one from audi, im pretty sure the jetta switches are plug-n-play and half the price.

if you're under warranty go have it checked out on audi's bill.
