My first mod - Huper Optik tints.

Hi All. I just joined the boards and I'm excited to learn and share ideas with Audi enthusiasts. I just bought my B7 A4 a couple of weeks ago, and I already have a long list of touches I want to do on her. So thoughts, knowledge and experience from others will be great.

Anyway, I just had my first mod done and it was tinting the windows. I did a lot of research and didn't want any compromise. I ended up with Huper Optiks. I think I made a good choice. I got 40% tints and it came out great. Here are some pix.

like the tint, very dark at night? in Florida I would imagine you would need darker because of the sun

That looks good. I'm thinking about tint, but even 35% is too dark for me.

Thanks for the thoughts guys. I'll be honest I thought of going dark, but truth is, I really don't want it too dark. I wanted enough tints whereby a lot of heat was being blocked out, but at the same time you could somewhat see the interior. Also, my car being black and the interior being black, it would be too dark inside, especially at night. Like A4B7 said, it is huper, this thing looks like silk in person....very nice.

The sun here is killer, but 40% does a very good job actually of blocking heat. Also, different states have different tint laws, and being that I travel a lot, I did not want to go too far dark.

You made the right choice my friend. There is no comparison. Especially for an extra $150 for one of the most visible mods. Huper Optik > everything else.

Glad you didn't get the windshield strip either. Windshield strip is weak sauce.

I got Huper 30 and wish I had gotten 50. It can be too reflective at times. But for heat rejection, there is nothing better. Believe!

    Nice work looks great btw.

Anyone know a reasonable place for Huper ? in the Bay area? I got a quote for my Avant for 600, seems a little high. I got my last coupe done for like 3 something? What is the going rate, I know huper is more, but want a good deal these days?

Re: My first mod - Huper Optik tints.

I noticed a huge difference once it was on. My interior is fairly cool even on the blazing hot days. The installer asked me about the windshield strip, I thought it was useless, so good to know I made the right choice.

I got mine done for $428 in Jacksonville, FL. I had to make an immense number of calls to find a reputable shop that installs huper.

huper is supposed to be good stuff. 40 is too light for my taste but if it works for you then great. for reference, a tinted vehicle will still reach the SAME temperature as a non-tinted vehicle. it will only take longer to reach that temperature do to the tint.

its too light for my taste but looks like it was a good tint job. Huper is a really good tint for people who dont want the traditional blacked out look.

Unfortunately, I did not take pix of my car being tinted :-( Should have.

Ya, for most modders, people would go darker. Not to sound crazy, but I kinda like to give people on the outside a little taste of what is going on inside the car.

Good call, I hate tint, especially really dark; looks trashy to me. The only way I would go is Huper but I got quoted 600+ a year and a half ago so I got chipped instead.
