Getting chipped tomorrow

After saving up my pennies, I'm getting APR Stage 1 tomorrow morning from Euro Technik in Orlando (Sanford). I decided to skip the trial and get the real deal.

I've built up a lot of expectations about it - I hope I'm not disappointed!

I'll post impressions tomorrow.

Will probably get a 710n or Forge. Forge is located in Orlando - do they have a showroom?

not what I was wanting to hear. I know I should keep spares in the trunk - I'm just lazy. Maybe ETA will sell me one.

Should I do any other prep work tonight? Check plugs, hoses, etc.?

been chipped for a year, still on stock coils, the older ones (Revision L I think)..But as weird as my car is, things like this that should go bad after the chip dont, but 100s of other things that should NOT go bad do.

As far as going 1+ right away - I couldn't get a response from the AZ guy that sells injectors, and I don't want to wait around. If the upgrade flash is free, I might as well try to find injectors at a decent price and then go get the upgrade.

The upgrade is not free. Coilpacks are a must I had to replace one a day or two after being chipped. Be ready to be happy for about 3 days, soon you'll feel dissapointed when minivans are pulling on you. Come take a ride in my BT car and skip that worthless STG1 flash.

Would an ECU swap work with a 04 6 speed? Same ecu number? If so I have a fully loaded APR stage 1+ with injectors for cheap, going BT and wabt to offset the new revo flash. send me a PM if interested!

the upgrade is free....the labor is not...so you'll be paying another $40-$50 for the upgrade....id say just wait and get the injectors...i did the same as you and did 1, then 1+...i should have waited another week and did it all at once..

Sure no problem the immobilizer thing is a pain, I can't sell just the injectors because they are on the car. If I can find someone that wants the ecu and not the injectors I'll let you know. looking for $100 injectors and $300 ECU.

Sorry for plugging my stuff on your tread. No luck with manguyen for injectors?

Like you I also keep 4 spares...I think you will like what you get.I thought about the +1 before doing it as well, but the shop wanted an arm and a leg of the injectors and at the time I only wanted a mild upgrade. I am looking into the +1, though...

ya from what I read so far, either they go bad couple days after you chip, or they will stay as is for years. I am planning to get the Hitachi E this winter just in case I would need them. Better be safe than sorry.

just get stage 1 software and buy used injectors on AZ afterward. you'll be used to the stage 1 power and in a month when you go 1+ you'll be happy as can be again (for a little while according to everyone else). just go get chipped, buy a coil pack, and enjoy the grin on your face!

hey man skip the APR and go with REVO. You will eventually goto a BT, so just save your money and get REVO instead.

you should post because you will save money and avoid headaches in the short run and long run.!

my suggestion, just skip stage 1. go straight to GTRS with REVO. better gas mileage and healthier for you motor

Chris from APR was cool - he said they weren't going to offer the same deals to the distributors, but he did offer to do something for me during the week of APR's grand opening. I couldn't wait.

You'll like your chip! i remember my first chip.. couldnt sleep the night before haha.. all exited.. 30 min to early at the garage... the dude at giac was like WTf..
After 1 week you want more.. and then more again and then more again.. it's like crack

Yeah, you'll like it a lot. Don't worry. It'll definitely be an upgrade from stock and you'll notice a difference. But even when I posted my BT project, all the BAT guys were like "It's so little" and stuff like that so don't even worry about it lol!

Wow! It's great! It's not as great as my friend's stage 3 B5 S4, but it's good enough for me. The weirdest thing is that when my brain/body is used to the power giving out, it just keeps going! Hits about 20 psi. It's lot more aggressive - kind of took me by surprise at first. I'm sure it will become "normal" in a few days, but for now it's really awesome.

Another thing I noticed is that the rpm's seem to stay up even when I'm off the throttle - I guess that's part of the new tuning? Like when I was on the highway going about 70, when I took my foot off the gas the rpm's didn't immediately drop like they used to.

I think the car sounds better now, but I might be making that up. It just sounds a little meaner - maybe because I drove it harder than usual.

Picked up a spare coil pack just in case...

Ok - going out to drive some more and try to note specifics about when boost comes on, etc.

Stage 1. I have an Auto Meter gauge - not sure if they are known to be off by a little, but I definitely hit 19 on my quick trip to Taco Bell just now... Volcano Taco FTW.

You said it - this is how it should come from the dealer. It feels unleashed - like I'm not fighting for power. As moronic as this sounds - it's like I'm more "one" with the car.

anyone else? I just searched around and found several threads where a spike of 19, holding at 10-14 was normal for APR Stage 1.

I'm going to upgrade the DV asap.

oh yeah, I don't think I ever looked at my spike, but holding 14 sounds about right... is that what yours is doing? Didn't see you write anything about what it was holding, I think I took your spike as the hold when reading your post.

and do the n249 bypass while youre changing the dv.. I've heard good things, really need to do it myself when I'm not working.
