    Re: HID kit problems?

ok, with *proper* punctuation use, here's the deal. in answer to your question, assuming you do it right (see lower) you will need to tell the computer (with a VAG-COM cable) that you have installed Xenons.

"Doing it right" involves getting proper xenon housings. again, check the FAQ as i'm pretty sure there's a DIY link for the swap. if you don't put in proper xenon housings and just stick the xenon bulbs in your current halogen housings, you will cause glare somethin' fierce. the reflectors you currently have are designed around the characteristics of halogen bulbs. xenons are different enough that the reflector won't do the proper job of cutting the low-beam light pattern so as to not blind oncoming drivers.

can this information be added to the FAQ? i've answered this question too many times in the past couple months.

i will translate the above with bad punctuation you will need 2k dollars if not i will not be oem ,with halos and hid's you will blind people ,i bet 99.9 percent of people that say this have not seen this set up in an a4 with a good set of HID'S ,so basically the SPARTA ATTACK has started hahahaha

    Re: HID kit problems?

if you absolutely had to put the kit in the halogen housings, just make sure the arc of the hid bulb(part of bulb that emits light) is at the same distance from the base of the bulb as the h7 halogen bulb, in other words, make sure both light emitting parts of the bulbs rest in the same place in the headlight. Reason being...the halogen reflector is designed around the bulb being in a certain spot, if this spot is changed (bulb too in or not in enough) the beam pattern will be completely different, most people who buy kits dont know this and they just throw the bulbs in, and where the beam used to cut off, its now scattered everywhere. To ensure your kit bulbs are the same, just make sure the arc on the hid bulb is in the same place as the little spring filament in the halogen bulb, you can space the hid bulb with rubber o-rings if this isnt the case, after proper installation, ENSURE that you aim the lights! before doing anything..

park your car 10 ft from a wall..

notw turn on your halogen lights and mark the wall where the beam is..

now properly install the new kit...

re-aim lights to where beam is about 2 in. lower than halogen beam..

congrats! you now have a non glaring hid kit in a halogen housing!

ohh and dont buy anything other than 4300k or 4500k bulbs or i will find you and make you drink oil!! well 6000k is fine too but significant loss of output compared..

haha have fun hope i helped
