    Car broke..what would you do?

Was driving down the street, nothing special, and then the car just dies.. wont start... had to push it to the side.

I was able to tow it home...

Problem is...I have no fault codes.

I was able to get it to start by putting in new plugs gapped differently with new coilpacks... previously I had a very aggrexive gap in there, too tight I think actually, and I could tell the car seemed to be have too much fuel coming in..

So It starts now, but idles really shitty..with the maf unplugged it idles better and can be driven

with the maf plugged in I cant accelerate without bogging the engine down. gets sputtery...

I didn't really bring any tools with me.. The whole maf in maf out really confuses me, because I have checked all the lines and no hoses are off etc.... theres no visisble leaks anywhere.. also when the car died, it wasnt being driven hard, I was just cruising...

EGT's are working I checked. Maf sensor is working also...02 sensors are a month old.

Really stumped, I guess I need to pressure test her...

    So the Q is...

What would you do? Take the car to Volxgerman, or is there another mechanic here? Im in HOnolulu.. Jesse was mentioning someone.

I just really not looking forward to an expensive bill from a mechanic unless they know this car good.. since theres no fault codes, it really is a bit difficult as to whats up..
All help appreciated. really stumped how car just died. Car is asp stg 3..

ANyone want to buy her for cheap so I dont have to deal with this!!?? I guess thats stupid though since I could send her to get fixed and then sell her at a normal price.. Probably something simple that I can't figure out, but man I really don't have time to deal with the car..Car ran fine before this, really stumped here..

what you said about unplugging the MAF and it runs better is how to "troubleshoot" if it is the MAF or not...

have you had it replaced recently/ever? how many miles on the car?

Re: Car broke..what would you do?

    thanks for the input guys!

Hey but this is what baffles me...see the hitachi maf sensor is only 3 months old! Brand new...

When I log it, it also is breathing about the right amount also 5.06 g/s at idle...

    I ll check the wiring,

Its really killing me, I hate having the car broke. I cant go to tantalus to see the pigs...nor the audi meet..

it's not the maf. I thought it was my maf when i had the same problem. My car also ran with the maf unplugged so I thought it was the maf. Well...... it's not! you have a damn boost leak that is HUGE. Think along the lines of an intercooler hose or the small throttle body boot that looks like a Y by the diverter valves. Oh- and I didn't have any codes either.
    Bone stock 2002 S4 driver...well ok...a few mods.

Darn maybe. That still doesnt make sense why the car would just die and not start once.. Usually the car will start with a leak and then die promptly..

Ill have to pressure test her. Alll my tubes are connected tight...I checked, maybe theres a hole somehwere..
