Whoever stole this car definetly knew what they were doing. I had had my key locked in my car twice, and these cars are near impossible to steal let alone get into.

I say that whoever's car this is, did this themselves, reported it stolen, sold those ever so expensive recaros and headlights. esp the location bronx

to the op, what does the location have to do with anything? and are you 100% sure that these cars are impossible to steal? If a thief wants something, they can get it, car was probably towed and then pulled apart.

and yeah this is a sick deal, only thing is that the buyer will never be sure if teh car was joyridden

2nd that. Someone tryed to steal my 2003 Harley-Davidson F-150 just last week and no dice the immobilizer got em. Talk about pros. the lock was busted just right and the steering Coulomb was not even damaged. They only broke the locks for the ignition. Glad they didn't do much damage but dam what is there a school for this or some thing?

When you look at the S4 the only lock to break is the drivers door lock and it looks just fine. So how did they get in and how did they drive the car with the S4 immobilizer then?

just purely speculation, but, the remote that controls the power locks is transmitted via a narrow band signal. and also it isnt hard to get into the car via the door lock, punch out the the cylinder and you have access. and as far as the immobilizer, its really a joke, i wont get into it, but you guys know the computer is coded to the key, how many different variations in ecu do you think are out there for any given model year of a car? answer the question and you answer how the immobilizer is bypased. But then again its purely speculation.

Please dont take this as me giving hints on how to "steal" these cars. because i am not, just trying to educate my fellow S car owners. Its amazing what you can learn hanging out with a good repo man.

    Re: Stolen s4 for 17k with 55k.

ok then a few more things that point to the owner possibly doing this. The key clearly still works. so they would have had to have a key. If you had a key and were able to take the 45 min to remove the seats why would you not take the 3 min it takes to remove the head light. the head light and the pop or what ever the sickly looking substance is on the dash an obvious attempt to make more damage to the car.

The thief that tryed to take my truck didn't take my wallet (800+dollars in it) or my BREITLING watch. So I doubt the supassed theft in this case was going to take time and splash around his unused beverage. Not only that but the only thing that is a huge money maker for thieves is the Air bags. that is like the bread and butter of pulls from a car.

In the end you are correct some one could have the ability to get arond all the systems with high tech tools and not break anything. But you would go threw all that for some seats?

    Re: Stolen s4 for 17k with 55k.

In the UK people have taken to breaking in to people house and take the keys off the side board and just driving away.

I once went away for a long weekend and had my Ford Sapphire Cosworth stolen of my drive, they just lifted it off the drive on to a trailer and took it away the neighbours thought they where repair men from a garage so never gave it a second look. If they want it bad enough they will take it.

That car has been on ebay for a while. You guys think that's a good price for a salvage title, smoked in car that needs thousands still dumped into it? I could see that price maybe being reasonable if it were back together. The way the prices on these cars are falling, you can pick up a nicer one for low 20's that would be easier to sell down the road.

Looks a little high for S4 suspension as well, no?

Interesting how there are some B6 S4 Recaros (front and back) for sale on the North Eastern regional section of the forums.

Haha, too much to be coincidental. Funny if the person selling it was the previous owner of the car, or the thief that "stole" the car.

    Re: Stolen s4 for 17k with 55k.

I considered buying that car a few months back. Cheap and less than 4k in fixing it up, however down the road its not worth it with a salvage title.

Yep. How buys a car with a salvage title? Not sure, but I know I definitely do not buy cars with salvages. Selling that thing would be a nightmare. Only way I would ever buy it is if was destined to be a track only car and I needed to tear alot of it off to modify it anyway....

Actually my b7 fully loaded is a salvage.. and i have about 20k in it now with wheels. with 19k miles. I find that a fairly good deal considering the running price for low mileage b7s is 30k or more.

I already got an offer of 22k, but i feel like if i drive the shit out of this car, and put abotu 30k on it, ill still get a good 15k. 20-15 = 5 k depreciation isnt bad. and trust me, there is ALWAYS a sucker for a salvage car if its saving them 3-4-5-8k
