if you car passes obd2 tests, then you can pass state emmisions

if they wanna be really picky, they can do a roadside check, but if you CEL is off you may not have much of an issue

Not only is it a fine, its ILLEGAL and not allowed on a public road. If you are caught driving with one, not only will you get a fine but you wont be driving your car home, unless of course you ride in it on the tow truck ...

Believe me, law enforcemnt officers are not stupid, they get plenty of training and know exactly what to look at on cars...

the A4 makes it so much more easy too, they do not even have to look under the car, just pop the hood and right in front of them is the test pipe, with the super duper engraving that says "for off road use only" and if you were to have grinded it off, the primary and secondary O2 sensor helps them out a little in identifying it too.

The likeliness of any Audi A4 having to pop it's hood is pretty slim, however the potential does exist, your best bet is to not have an aftermarket intake, this is the first dead givaway that there was some attempt to alter emissions.

Also most cops are motorheads as well and like to discuss modded cars... its helped me a few times but then again im in arkansas and tennessee so we are "slightly" easier going that Cali.... besides every redneck around here has straight pipes anyway!

Every police officer I know is a car buff (and I know quite a few). They know what parts look like. I don't car what type of vehicle it is. A pipe that takes the place of an emissions device is just that. Whether its on a Mustang or an Audi.

This is true, one night I was at the track (Sacramento Raceway) staged and getting ready to make a QM pass and this older guy walks up to me with a maglight and a badge around his neck walks up to me and says "I need to to open your hood"

I damn near shit my pants, thinking my car is getting impounded since I was running the old GT28RS with a open turbo...

As soon as I open it, the guy compliments me on how fast the car is and how I am kicking the shit out of all of the Honda's, he then proceeds to walk over to his truck and pulls out a photo album of a bunch of Ferarri's, he races them in the Ferarri challenge.
