    Slack in cm clutch?

I bled my CM stage 4 and still have 2 inches of slack at the top of the pedal. CM says it's normal to have around 1.25-1.50 of slack at the very top of the pedal, but I never had this issue ever on other cars... The pedal feel with the 2500lb pp is lighter then stock which I here is normal.. Does this sound like an issue? I never started the car nor is ther brake rotors in the calipers nor is the brake booster line hooked up to the y pipe...

youll know if its good once you start the car. i know its not what you want to hear, but its really the only answer. if it engages and disengages good and has a good feel, it sounds pretty normal. i like my clutches to catch higher though, that way i just tap in the clutch quick if im racing. saves valuable time :)

    Re: Slack in cm clutch?

from what you say, i dont think it would be a problem as long as you have everything else capped off. Once the brake calibers are applying pressure to the rotors, it has a back pressure that would translate into having less slack in your clutch pedal. Its a thought that since you dont have everything hooked up and these lines do not have fluid and or pressure in them to begin with.

Im having a problem wit my clutch pedal feel now. good luck with problem solving.

If i have to take the tranny out shes sitting for the winter.. this is the main reason why i havent finished the car since i dropped the motor in 2 weeks ago. I also like to just tap the pedal when racing or WOT shifting with this slack it makes it rough

    Re: Slack in cm clutch?

Are you using the stock slave? Apparently there is an "Heavy Duty" slave for our car, but it's not compatable with CM clutches. If you're using the HD version that could be your problem.

I had a CM stage 3/4 and now a full 6-puck stage 4... both had a little slack at the top of the pedal, but 2" seems excessive :-/ I'm not sure what could be causing that much slack...

    Re: Slack in cm clutch?

i know it sounds stupid.. my clutch when i installed it had a lot of slack. and took up way too fast..

all i did to fix it.. was open the reservoir(brake fluid)

then pull up on the clutch pedal with your hand..

    it completely fixed my issue.

i think once i drive the car she will come to life.. I have the stock slave, why does the cm clutch not work with the other slave.. I have the stage 4 6 puck with a 2500lb pp and a single mass steel flywheel..

    Re: Slack in cm clutch?

is it a new stock slave cylinder? if so... follow this guide by JHM to fully aerate the system. I just got done with a new clutch and I have about 1.5in of play at the top.

WTF? The hydraulic clutch system uses the same reservoir as the brakes, that's it. They are independent of each other pressure wise.

I can't remember what the problem was exactly. I think it had to do with the pedal return though.
