New Owner of b7 RS4

Hi guys, new to the forum, but i have been creeping around a couple of days. Last week i traded my 04 m3 in for an 08 Misano red rs4 with the titanium package and audi exclusive interior. The Rs4 is defintely different then my m3 was in many ways. I have always loved the rs4's but never saw myself in one while i was in the m3. I looked at the new m3 also, but just cant stand the e90/92 interiors. Thats one of the main reasons i looked towards the audi. Overall im pretty happy with my choice instead of the new m3, im use to a coupe, but dont mind the sedan since its one of the smaller sedans on the market.

I love the interior of the audi, dont have many complaints, but i have one thing that really gets to me. Im not a short guy (5'11") but i keep the seat pretty far up because its just a more comfortable position for me clutch and gas pedal wise. Only thing i have noticed is the closer the seat the less room there is for my knees not near the steering wheel but near the part of the dash that comes down by the actual shift knob. I have tried scooting the seat back to straighten my legs out, but during gear changes its just not as comfortable. I've only been in it for a week so im sure ill find a position that fits me.

As for the motor I love how much torque this thing puts down. It just pulls so much harder than the m3 in every gear and i love how high it revs just like the m's i6. Cant say much more about the motor besides the amazing sound it makes too.

Handling wise its not quite as tight as the m3 was, but it was also lowered on tein s-tech springs. I know these are different cars awd sedan compared to rwd coupe but i feel like there is a lot more understeer in the rs4. Hopefully that problem will be solved soon as i just ordered some hotchkis sways. I would also like to hear some opinions on those sways from anyone that has them or driven an rs4 with them.

As far as mods i have a few plans such as the gmg exhaust, springs- will have a few questions in a later post, the hotchkis sways and possibly a front lip if there are any. The rs4 doesnt have quite as big a mod market as the m3 but it doesnt need much anyway. But thanks for looking guys, any help is appreciated -Adam

Don't just upgrade the springs if you own a Rs4..do it the right way and get coilovers.

hahaha ill get them up im out of town right now, ill be back this weekend. As for the coilovers i dont see myself tracking the car and i cant justify spending 2k on something i wont use to full potential although i would love to pick up a set

You got an RS4 and you want to do just springs? Don't do it!

Here is what's going to happen in a nutshell. In a few thousand miles (2k to 4k) you're gonna notice that your front shocks are totally wet and greasy. You'll take it back to the dealer's service department and they will tell you that the DRC has failed. They will then commence to let you know that on your car they will not be covering a new DRC system and you will have to pay for it out of your pocket. You'll say, "Why" and they will tell you that your springs are not factory, hence a voided suspension warranty and it is at this point that you'll be calling up Stasis ordering a set of the SL's or the MS's. That being said, you will have wasted your money on a set of springs. Get it?

GMG's got some of the ugliest cans and tips out there. Get the Tubi or a Milltek.

I'm kind of new to the car as well, I have an 07' RS 4 also, I don't think there are too many changes from year to year.

I am also debating about springs or coil overs and at this point I almost have my self talked into Stasis SL CO's, but still somewhat considering H&R's spring only, about 70/30 torwards the CO's.

My first mod was GMG's cat back system and I love it great sound and easy install, i think the rear pipes fill in and look great!

Thanks for the welcome guys, quick question.. with the titanium package the exhaust comes painted either in a matte black/close to a gun metal finish right? If i were to order a new exhaust what would be the best way to paint the tips in order to have the same look?

Edit: just saw one of the miltek options on their catbacks is the satin black tips.. Are miltek and tubi the two loudest?

I sympathize with his take on the coil-over setup. I don't track my car either, but considering that there are no aftermarket shocks for the RS4 that I am aware of the coil-over route really is his only option if the car is going to be done correctly.

It's not that they're loud. They have one of the best sounds out there. If you want to turn chrome exhaust tips into titanium, look no further:

Thats correct, i honestly thought about going exhaust first but, since you guys have been stressing coils over just springs i might just go with the coils.

Welcome! You've only just got here and we've spent you're next $6k+ of savings!

From personal experience with a non-res Milltek, and downpipes, it's a little loud, IT HASN'T AFFECTED ME THOUGH

If you insist on getting on it 'round town, the resonated would be my choice, and I may even add them yet. Most will say the DPs are a waste too, but they add a deeper dimension to the sound.

Mine came with all this fitted so I can knock it and praise it without taking personal responsibility for choosing or buying it, but damn it sounds good.

I also have KW V3 coilovers, which don't seem the popular choice vs stasis/ohline (see above re purchase) but they work for me.

There's a great bunch of folks here, all ready to help you spend a fortune.

I second the Milltek

every video I've ever watched on youtube (good way to check different exhaust sounds out) the Milltek makes me smile. Not sure I'd subject my neighbours to the decibels though, as my V8 is already loud enough. Still...milltek rules if you are going to touch the thing. Stock is also intoxicating sounding...can't lose if you decide to leave it.

I had this seating position problem as well. The way I fixed it was to lower the seat to its lowest position. That helped me out. I don't rub the side anymore. :)

On another note, why did you feel the need to include your Breitiling watch in the pics? You already got the RS4, you don't need to show off anymore than that.

Could you post up some exterior/interior shots of that AEI. Would it be possible to like open both doors on the driver's side and take a shot where both the interior and exterior shows?
